Thank you for sharing your Pirate themed CAFE posters, I am really enjoying them. I have a question, but I don't know if you can help me or not. Here goes...I am looking for Pirate of the Week pages. Would it be posible to edit the CAFE headings for specific titles to fit a Pirate of the Week board? I am thinking about a Wanted Poster (for student photo), a Pirate Profile heading (for all about me), My Crew (Family info), and a I am Most Famous For...(what do they like best about themselves, etc) Is this something that would be possible to do? On June 12, 2012, I purchased the Pirates, Frogs, Aerotots Themes - Daily 5?CAFE Posters and when I try to print page 8 for each of these (Daily Five Reading to Self) it gets cuts off and only prints part of the border and the f in Self. I was so excited to download these themes, however, now I am disappointed because this poster is such an important part of the Daily Five. I hope this can be fixed. The items included in this packet are headers and descriptions for the CAFE strategies, and all of the Daily 5 strategies with I-charts. The packet is intended to be printed and written on, or transferred into a whiteboard program such as Smart Board for larger projection. This file does not currently have "editable" properties, and unfortunately that is not part of the download. The terms of my artwork license through Thistlegirl Designs bind me to sharing uneditable .PDFs with her artwork, I hope you understand, thanks!

The file is saved in a .pdf format which in uneditable in a program like Microsoft Word, and will keep the fonts from changing when opened on your computer. Please be sure that you have downloaded the most up-to-date updates for your .pdf program viewer, and are not opening your file in a preview format, which will make the file look messy. Thanks! If the program is up to date, the file will open as intended. :)

Hi There, again! I just purchased the apple pattern daily 5 posters-- love them!!! But I was wondering if you could either email me a template that allows me to write on it or fill in the I-charts. Back in September we made all of our charts. I used chart paper and markers and everything really badly faded! So, my mini lessons are already done-- the students actually voted on the apple template (I have an apple tree in my room). The posters you sent to me do not allow (or I don't think they do?) for me to customize, right? It's just the charts that say what the children are doing and what the teacher is doing (reading with small groups) that I need to have personalized. Everything else looks amazing and I will use as is. I know the Daily 5 book says to create together and keep it up ALL year-- but it is February-- they know what the posters say-- I just want it to be a pretty visual. I hope this email makes sense. I'm so glad you like your purchase, thank you! You're correct, these files do not currently have "editable" properties, and unfortunately that is not part of the download. Most teachers that I've spoken with use these with Smart Boards, or, print them out and write on them. If you have Adobe Photoshop, you can open .PDFs with this program and add text boxes in the places that you are wanting to fill in the template with neater text. I'd be happy to work with you on making this fit that need. How will you be using this? I have found that many teachers are simply projecting it using a Smart Board or other Interactive Notebook. If that it the case, you can write on the file as save it for later use. (This is how I actually use it in my own classroom).

Hmm... I am not having printing problems as I still cannot download it properly. What software did you use to create this document? I am thinking that something is not compatible with my computer because my downloaded copy does not allow me to read anything on it. Suggestions?

Usually this is an updating issue. The file is simply a .pdf document. It was created in Word and saved as a .pdf file. Have you made sure that you have an up-to-date .pdf program? If not, all you need to do is download and or/update it. Also, if you are on a Mac make sure you are viewing and printing it in Reader and not Preview. Thanks for working with me to figure this out!

I just purchased this Daily 5 package and when I downloaded it...only 2 pages were visible :( All the others have grey and black blurry areas where I would imagine the writing is. The cute borders and pictures are mostly visible but there is no writing. Can you help me with this??

Hi! I think your posters are just beautiful -- but... when I tried to print them I get a thick green line down the center of the page. It looks like it's part of the border. The Comprehension page and Accuracy page were fine, but the fluency and Expanding vocab. had the line. I printed them 4 times to check and see if it was gone,but it wasn't. any ideas????

Yes it does! I have created this to be displayed as you would introduce each section of the Daily 5, either printed and bound in a book, or displayed on a Smart Board, as I currently use mine. It also includes all of the titles for CAFE as well. If you would like to download the preview of this file, it is listed as the product looks, but with a watermark on each page. Hope this helps! TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I am currently teaching 1st Grade, and love it! I have also previously taught Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 2nd grade. I have been told by more than one colleague and administrators that I am very much a "primary" teacher, which I take to be a wonderful compliment to my teaching experience and preferences!
MY TEACHING STYLE
I am a faithful, loving, creative, kind and positive person. I take these ideals with me into my classroom. I teach with with Love and Logic and I have very high expectations for my students and my classroom because my students capable of so much learning! While I am firm I am loving, and where I am neat and have a place for every thing in my room, I love getting creative and messy! I believe in student-based, student-driven planning, learning and teaching. I expect my students to be involved, be engaged and have fun, because they don't even know they are learning when they are all these things!
HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT
The greatest reward that I could ever receive is seeing the "light bulb click" when one of my students makes a learning connection for the very first time. Nothing is more precious that the love that each one of my students gives me each and every day. There is no workplace where one could feel more valued than in a Kindergarten classroom!
MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY
I am a Texas girl through and through. Born and raised in the Lone Star State, I graduated from The University of Texas San Antonio with my Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies EC-4. I am certified EC-4 Generalist and ESL EC-4.
ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also spend a great deal of time volunteering with the youth at the church where my husband works. Since I was a small child, I have found nothing as relaxing, rewarding or freeing as reading a good book! I love many different types and kinds of books, but some of my favorite stories are written by children's authors! Some of my favorite authors are: Judy Blume, Eric Carle, Kevin Henkes, Laura Numeroff, Mo Willems and MANY more!
