Hi! I am looking for a reading passage for 4th grade on the Rev. War. I was videotaping my small group today for my National Boards and noticed that it was way too long. By the time my students read and made their inferences my 14 minutes allowed was up.

Is there anyway you can just send me pages. 26, 29, 30, 34, 37 from your guide. I will pay for them!

We don't delve deep into the War or I would buy the whole thing. I just need the reading passages.

I am so sorry but, I can't send you the individual pages. I only have the PDF to the unit at this point. The computer I created the pages on is no longer in use and the old and new computer are not compatible. I hope your videotaping goes well!

I purchased the Constitution Social Studies Unit and some of the pages had blurry words, almost like they were printed on top of each other, but not exactly on top of each other. Is their another download available or ways to fix. These are some of the amendment pages and one or two others.

Mrs. C's Classroom  (TpT Seller)
I am sorry that you are having trouble. It has been downloaded multiple times by many people and there hasn't been a problem. Could you try using another printer? I will check into trying to get the pages to you another way today! If you will e-mail me @ lcourtney06@comast.net, I will send the unit in an attachment.

could I use this for 3rd graders?
September 9, 2013
Mrs. C's Classroom  (TpT Seller)
I sure wish I could yes. :) Fourth grade place value goes to millions. I have had teachers who have upper level students purchase this unit for extension. I am not sure it would "fit" with daily 3rd grade lessons with the new common standards. I appreciate you asking.

It has made my life less stressful. My principal gave out amounts of copies to the faculty today and she gave the math teachers more this year. She understands that math tasks take a lot of copies. We teased that we wouldn't have to run copies at 25% anymore!

hello,

i was wondering if you would be willing to reduce the size of the time tests to fit 4 per page. just thinking of ways to save paper ;-)

thanks, sarah

Mrs. C's Classroom  (TpT Seller)
Actually, I had a similar product on TPT last year and the complaint was that there was too much crammed onto one page. I am limited in copies and paper myself so, I know how it feels. I teach over a 100 kids a day! I make 2 copies of a timed test, place them on the copier together and run at 50%. I get 4 copies to a page. I do this with most everything I can. The copies look good, and paper...and copies are saved.

Perfect. We can use our grade level money so we would like to purchase anything that will help us with social studies and we really like your stuff. So anything from Indians, explorers, through the revolution.

Rachel, I have a bundle pack that has the Articles of Confederation, the 3 Branches of Government, the Constitution, and a separate 3 Branches of Government Flashcard Activity included in it. It is listed at a reduced price. I also have an Election of the President of the United States unit. Obviously, the Election unit is seasonal, but I have had teachers purchase it to use as a resource for teaching government. I also have a Native American Word Wall. Other than this, the Revolutionary War unit is my other Social Studies unit. I have the links listed below.
I wish I had more but, if you are interested, I am creating a “colonies” unit this summer, and if time permits, I will create either a Westward Expansion or Civil War Part 1 unit. Just let me know and I will send you a message when I have them on TPT.
Thanks so much for inquiring and I hope these units will help you. I try to put as much detail as possible into my units. I hope you enjoy 4th grade as much as I do!

I am also a 4th grade teacher in Georgia. I am interested in bundling a few things. i love the American Revolution packet but would also like some of your other resources to help me teach social studies. Since we teach the same standards I would like all the big social studies topics that you have for 4th grade. This will be my 2nd year in 4th and I just really need to build my resources. If you could recommend what you have and put them together I would be interested in purchasing them all. Thank you so much.
June 2, 2013
Mrs. C's Classroom  (TpT Seller)
I do have several Social Studies resources and units. I will work on getting all resources together for you and let you know ASAP. I am also going to create at least 2 more large Social Study units this summer. Thanks for asking!

I am interested in haring more about the workshop method that you use for teaching. I like the concept of project based learning and used a project for an end of the year that turned out great ! I have taught for 12 years and am starting my masters as a special ed teacher. Maybe you could give suggestions on where to look for more info on the subject or give ideas you have. Great Social Studies Unit on the Constitution. I am using it as the end of the year project for my kids. I am a long term sub at the moment an have the same class I had last year as a long term sub. The position does not retain teachers very well. I am told it takes a special teacher to do it. :)

siobhanconnor re: Prime or Composite Activities with mini-posters (factors / math)
Hi!
I recently purchased this activity packet and I love it! When I put the mini posters on the overhead projector my class literally "ooohhed" :) I was wondering......is there any way you could add a mini-poster for the definition of multiples? I find that using the concept of multiples with a prime and composite lesson is helpful.
Thanks so much for your consideration!

I will absolutely put a poster for multiples on for you this week. I am so sorry I missed your question earlier last month but, I will get one on and put it as a Freebie so you may use it next year. I will let you know when I get it on TPT.

sloveweston re: Election of the President of the United States - Social Studies Unit
How much time should be alloted to teach the unit the way you intended? Can activities be pulled out or is it designed to flow from beginning to end?
October 5, 2012
Mrs. C's Classroom  (TpT Seller)
I planned the unit to flow sequentially from beginning to end. However, I do not feel every activity has to be completed in order for students to understand the Presidential process. It depends on how much you want to include as far as the time allotted is concerned. I plan on spending 2 weeks on the mock election but, I have a co-worker who will spend approximately a week.

Jennifer Armour  (TpT Seller) re: Election of the President of the United States - Social Studies Unit
I'm teaching sixth grade this year. Could you tell me if this is appropriate for sixth grade, or would it be too young? I'm used to teaching seventh and eighth grade, and I know the information I used to use would be way too difficult for my students now.

Thanks,
Jennifer Armour

I tried my best to plan this unit so that it could meet the needs of 6th graders. It has been a few years since I taught 6th grade but, I would have used it. I believe these students will get as involved in the candy bar election as 4th and 5th graders.

Do you have a unit that would come before this one? I'm new to fifth grade and really need some beginning of the year help. I'd like to complete the government unit by Eledction Day.
August 30, 2012
Mrs. C's Classroom  (TpT Seller)
I do have a unit that comes before the Constitution Unit. It is a smaller unit titled Articles of Confederation. This was America's first government. I also have a unit on the Revolutionary War that ends with the Treaty of Paris before the Articles of Confederation. I have a nice Government Unit and a new Election Unit you might also like. Just go to my store, http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Mrs-Cs-Classroom , type in Social Studies in the "Quick Find" Box and you will see all the units. I am pretty proud of all of them! Good luck with 5th grade this year. Those kids are a special bunch. You don't whether to get on to them or laugh with them :)

Aw! Thank you.
June 27, 2012
Mrs. C's Classroom  (TpT Seller)
Hi, it's me again. After I took time to stop and ask myself why I didn't include a PEMDAS reminder, I remembered. The Algebra-Beginning Expressions Centers does not cover Exponents. So, I didn't include the chart. (I use Please Protect My Dear Aunt Sally at the point I use these centers.) It works. Aunt Sally is being robbed in the mall and the students are to protect her :) I did make you a PEMDAS card though. I made it as a FREE item. Here is the address to get there: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Order-of-Operations-Please-Excuse-My-Dear-Aunt-Sally-Card
Please let me know if this address does not work! I hope this helps!

I was wondering if you can create a child-friendly PEMDAS pster or Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally Chart so the children can quickly refer to the chart when they are at a center. Thank you.

I have a concern on "I have, who has?"
A - I have 3,207
Q - Who has the three places that are in each period?
A - I have a one, ten, and hundred
Could you please clarify the Q - question for me.
April 14, 2012
Mrs. C's Classroom  (TpT Seller)
There are 3 places to every period. The periods are Ones, Thousands, Million, Billions, etc... There is a one's place, a ten's place, and a hundred's place in every period in the number system. Let me know if that doesn't answer your question. Thanks!

Hi! I just downloaded and rated this product (I loved it!) and wanted to point out one small typo that I noticed. In the 2nd question on card 1, you have the word Sunday where the word Saturday should be, which makes the question a little confusing. It's not a big deal and doesn't detract from the quality of the product, but I thought you might like to know! Have a great day!

Rebecca, thank you so much for letting me know about the typo! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Thanks again for letting me know and for being so very nice about it :) Lisa

Hi!

I am starting up a new freebie site, where sellers at Teacher's Notebook and Teachers Pay Teachers share a freebie to market themselves and drive customers to their stores. If you are not already a member of a freebie site and would like to look into joining, I would love to have you fill out the contributor application (which is just really there so that I can keep up with everyone!). I enjoyed looking through your activities. You have a lot of great items.

The pages of the website are not finished yet, but I am trying to get them staffed so that we can start cross marketing. The page that is the 'most finished' is http://writing.bestpractices4teaching.com. You can click on the contributor tab there if you want to become part of it. I am really excited about it. If nothing else, bookmark the website so that you can come and download freebies once it all gets started!

Thanks!

abluerose
Hello,
I have not purchased your materials yet, but while looking at the thumbnail, I believe I've found an error. When rotating a shape, the rotation always occurs counter-clockwise unless specifically told otherwise. In your picture of a 90 degree rotation, you have it going clockwise. This is a fundamental principle of rotation. The way we rotate a shape is the same direction as our quadrants are numbered. Student need to see the connection between the two. As I noted, I haven't purchased your items, so I might be mis-reading it. Please do let me know if you have any questions.

Mary, I am so sorry I have not gotten back to you. I am totally green and a newbie. I had no idea that the Q & A was for questions from a customer. I figured it was a forum. So again, I apologize. I just did discover the meaning of it today. I figure you probably are not interested any more, but, just so you know, the sorting triangles are an activity. There is not lesson plan, but, they are the lesson. Again, I am embarassed that I did not get back to you sooner, and I apologize. Thanks, Lisa

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for the last 18 years. I have taught 4th grade for the last 11 years, teaching all subjects. I have a passion for Math, and have been allowed to teach it exclusively for the last few years. I also taught 6th grade math/social studies/science in a middle school before switching gears to the elementary school. I have a Masters of Education, am currently working on my Specialist Degree, and am passionate about teaching. I live and breathe it!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love teaching using the workshop method, with an opening, worktime, and closing. This allows students to explore and help find the answer themselves. I feel they must be guided, but, I believe most children retain more when they actually see and do. Skills cannot be neglected though. They are essential for retaining knowledge.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been named teacher of the year for my school and teacher of the month. I served on the year long math BST team when changing from state QCC's to Standards. I am currently on the BST math team.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a degree in Education, (K- 8), with an emphasis in Mathematics, a Masters of Education, and a BBA,(Bachelor of Business Administration. I am currently working on my Specialist, (6th year), degree.
