TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for the last 21 years. I have taught 4th grade for the last 14 years, teaching all subjects. I have a passion for Math, and have been allowed to teach it exclusively for the last few years. I also taught 6th grade math/social studies/science in a middle school before switching gears to the elementary school. I have a Masters of Education and a Specialist Degree. I am passionate about my career. I live and breathe it!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love teaching using the workshop method, with an opening, worktime, and closing. This allows students to explore and help find the answer themselves. I feel they must be guided, but, I believe most children retain more when they actually see and do. Skills cannot be neglected though. They are essential for retaining knowledge.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been named teacher of the year for my school and teacher of the month. I served on the year long math BST team when changing from state QCC's to Standards. I am currently on the BST math team.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a degree in Education, (K- 8), with an emphasis in Mathematics, a Masters of Education, and a BBA,(Bachelor of Business Administration, and a Specialist, (6th year), degree.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have been married for 29 years, and have three teenage children. My oldest is a senior in college working on his engineering degree. I have 19 yr. old twins, (boy/girl), who are sophomores in collegel. I have been teaching since 1989, but, took some time off to stay home with my children when they were younger.
