Penny K. re: First Grade Data Notebook - FREE!
We're trying the data notebook for the first time this year! We love the mclass compatible sheet. However, we don't have anything to assess the math. Can you share what you're using for the addition benchmark? Pkimberly@sampson.k12.nc.us thanks!

Hey pkimberly - glad you can use it!

We just used a different page from an online worksheet generator each quarter depending on what we had taught up to then (add to 10, 18, etc).

We are now using the Kathy Richardson assessments and I love them!

Hi there!
I am new to first grade this year, and love your data collection! I quickly glanced at a calendar, and it looks like your spelling tests are on Saturdays this year... will you be updating those dates to 2013's Fridays? Also, our school uses Harcourt Trophies for our "sight words" - which list are your 200 words from?
Thanks so much!

Unfortunately, my hard drive crashed in the fall and I lost all of my files, including the editable version of the data notebook. So sorry! Hope this serves as some inspiration for using data notebooks in your classroom!

Buyer re: First Grade Data Notebook - FREE!
Do you think that you might add a section for the new RTI strategies/intervention that is taken the place of PEPs in NC? Thanks

mlobwulf:

This data notebook is designed to be kept by each individual student to track their own progress. A "Brag Book" to show what they can do, if you will.

Can you tell me more about how you would incorporate the RTI interventions into a student's data notebook? I would love to know more about it.

Thanks!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I began teaching in March 2010 as a long-term substitute for a first grade teacher who was out on maternity leave. I guess I made the cut, because I've been at the same school ever since! My first full year teaching was 2010-11 in Kindergarten. This year I am back in first grade and loving it!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I LOVE small groups. I try not to stand in front of my kids for more than like 20 minutes at a time. My kids love their literacy centers and math workshop time!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

None - yet!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and a minor in Religious Studies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in May 2009.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

When I'm not teaching or working at home, I love to hang out with my hubby and my sweet dog! We LOVE to watch movies and take long walks. I always, always, always have a novel I'm reading. I love light fluffy chick lit!
