Tessa... you know what... I planned on creating the Back to School Math Unit, but then I was switched to teaching K instead of 1st grade at the last minute, and I never got to it. I plan on creating it still, but no you do not have to have the back to school math unit. You can use your own mini lesson ideas instead of the ones in my to-be-created math unit if you choose to.

Yes, I do! I cut apart the sentences, laminate the sentences and pictures, and then put magnets on the back. This way it can stick to the board for everyone to see.

I am in my 3rd year of teaching, and I love it! I am currently teaching kindergarten, and previously taught first grade for 2 years. I have published one article and have been chosen to help write curriculum for Language Arts in my district.

In my classroom, I do as much as I can to have the students working together. Especially in math, I feel that real learning occurs when students are talking about their thinking.
