I am a first year teacher and this will be a class novel. I will not use every facet of the plans, but it will be very helpful in charting the course for the use of the book in my classroom.
UPDATE: I found this to be very helpful. We spent about 3 weeks on the novel. I added some short answer questions to the test, and I also showed a youtube video of Salva today. Even non-readers enjoyed the book. Thanks so much for developing this study guide.

I am a middle school Language Arts teacher who will use this with 6th graders in conjunction with reading Bradbury's There Will Come Soft Rains in our literature book, so it is perfect for my needs--short and not too graphic for younger kids, yet powerful. It could be used in this way with any piece of related lit (Hersey's Hiroshima, etc.) I agree with Kivell2. Thanks!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I taught for nine years in public schools, and also taught at the junior college level for one year. I have taught a variety of levels, from remedial reading to gifted. I am a history buff, so my students read a lot of primary sources in my class. I am currently working on my Ph.D. in literacy studies.
All science materials are written by my husband, a science teacher with ten years experience working with multiple grade levels. His classroom games series is a great way to integrate some fun and competition or collaboration into your science lessons.
MY TEACHING STYLE
I try to be very creative, high-energy, and my room is often in a state of "organized chaos." I love to keep my students active and involved, and use a variety of stations and assessments in my classroom regularly.
