Mrs. R, I have a great suggestion for using your comprehensive trait list as a writing exercise. Download my freebie lesson (I'm Susan Lipson) and use my "D.A.D. Technique" with your Character Traits List to have students paint vivid word pictures of characters exhibiting these traits. You can tell students not to let their classmates know which trait they are portraying with D.A.D., and let them read their word portraits aloud and guess which traits each of them have illustrated. I do this all the time with my students, using cards with character traits on them; and now, with your list, I have expanded my list of traits. THANKS!

I just bought "There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom" and I need to make some changes to it. In the vocab pages, the forms of the definitions don't always match the forms of the words--e.g. "fluttered," past tense, matched with "move in a nervous and excited way," infinitive; "suspiciously," adverb, matched with "feeling that something is wrong," noun....
(I am editing this to add that I see what you meant now by the second example!)
I need to change these b/c my focus is on vocab, and I teach ELLs who will be confused by these mismatches. Would you be able to send me an editable copy of this item? It's otherwise ideal for me and I am excited to use it.

I taught for 38 years in Elementary Education. I was on the Math Best Practices Team for Minnesota, the Reading Committee, MEEP, the Sci/Math Team, an IGE Team Leader, the computer specialist for our elementary school for 28 years, as well as many other committees and teams throughout my years as a teacher. I retired but continue to substitute in our school for grades K - 12.
