Hi. Sorry it didn’t meet your needs. The unit was intended to challenge students to dig in and learn about poetry in a student-directed project and was not intended to be an intense teacher-led unit. It is expected that the teacher will draw out the poetic elements as poems are encountered. Perhaps you missed the Power point called the Vocabulary of Poetry where rhyme, stanza, meter, etc. are defined.

Hi Deborah. I think you could easily use Word Masters. Five new word stems/roots are introduced every other week. There are different activities for students to use to become familiar with the stems/roots. You could set a goal to learn three of the five words for a score and your high achievers would strive to learn five. Many of the stems are important for students to learn. Does that help? My feeling is if you use this to stretch your students, you'll be surprised at how many of your students will be able to do it!

Hi Debi. Yes, you should be able to download the files and print all of the grade book forms. The PDFs should print fine from both a Mac or PC. Then you can save a copy of the forms on your computer, print, and hand write into the forms. If you purchase the forms, I will walk you through what to do when you make your purchase. Exploring Elementary (TpT Seller)
I am getting ready for the Oregon Trail unit to start on Monday! Last year I found a site (no idea where now) where I printed off a PDF of names, occupation, what kind of wagon, how many kids, etc for each student. On the first slide I see that you have the word "Homonyms" Is that the correct definition for homonyms? When I look on the internet they give a different definition. The one you have does it go with the word- Homophones? The definition I need is for Homophones so can you change the word and take out Homonyms and put in Homophones?

Hi Jennifer. I used to use this with middle school and high school students when I taught math and an at-risk summer school program. :) We converted the day's data into fraction, decimal and percent daily. You can go as intense or not as you want with it but kids definitely LOVE coming in and signing in to the day's question. It might help the tardy situation! You'd make 6 groups of names, one for each period. You do this once for the year. Then you'd take the day's question and simply copy the names and paste. I could write up how I'd do it to make it super fast for you. My email is mrsrenzteaches@gmail.com. I have another thought. I can make the worksheets middle school looking if you're interested. You might need just the question sets though.

If not, after you purchase the unit I will remake it without graphics in MS Word format and you can add graphics you think might be better. I have just purchased your poetry unit and have downloaded it. I haven't had the opportunity to print out anything yet, but noticed when searching through that there are three files that seem confusing to me. I was hoping you could help me understand. The poetry black and white pdf file has blurred out sections on each page. Is this information that will show up when I print? Is there a way to adjust my computer settings so I can see what was typed in those spaces? This also holds true for the next file, poetry unit-updated. Also, the grading sheet file is just a blank document with the words Grading Sheet on the top. You make reference to an editable grid, but I don't see anything there. I have a mac and have updated adobe reader. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

Hi Tara. Hmmm. That's odd. There is a file that is named "mc-labels 1x2.63 inches avery 8160" in both Word and PDF formats. The wall posters you might refer to are "wall-signs-join-mc-2pgs". It's a 2 page PDF. Most of the pages are also in MS Word format so you can make all the changes you'd like. The PDFs are "locked" since they are the ones with graphics and my license for graphics allows for sharing them in PDF formats only.
I added those items to the purchase and updated the set Aug. 18th. I wonder if you have downloaded the older version. On TpT, I think you are given rights to download all changes and updates I do for purchasers.
