Almost everything I have posted in my store is in the Best Health curriculum, with the exception of P.E. materials, and a few others.

All the units, all games, all the favorite surveys and video links, and 99% of the lessons are included in the big curriculum :)

If you want an exact list, if you reply with your email address I'll send you a list, but the big curriculum is jammed full of almost everything!! Mrs. S.

This sounds like a great idea. Families could be involved in online, national and maybe even local events this way too...I just organized the units by purposely starting with relationships since that affects everyone and all kids can identify with friendships, than I did nutrition since families are interested in that as well and almost everyone like to talk about food!, then I threw in the sometimes awkward puberty and hygiene info after the program was well under way. Besides that, I don't honestly think it matters which topics come first and that's a great thing about teaching Health is that flexibility. Thanks for your ideas and interest. Mrs. S.

Hi Mike: Thanks so much for your interest-You will love the curriculums and you won't believe how much time you will save as a first year teacher. (If you are interested in getting both Health and P.E. programs I have a bundle deal so you can save $63.00-see link below)

I am pretty sure my WA standards will match your state's pretty closely. Mine are really specific and detailed.

If you want to send me your email, I'll attach a copy so you can compare I can't imagine another state requiring much more!!

All 20 Common Core Standards for Technical Subjects are also met!!

If you will have your health students just once, you'll want the 6-12th Health and P.E. Bundle at:

If I buy the nine units found in the complete health curriculum individually. Will they be the same as if I bought them in the full curriculum? Obviously I will not be getting the wrap up and and new class lessons. Will everything else be identical? This is the only way I can afford this program is to buy as I go along. We spoke previously about a payment plan. Which I am so thankful for. However, it was still more than I can afford at this time.
I have looked at all of the previews for each unit and compared them to the overall preview of the best health curriculum. I can see a few areas that have days listed differently. For example the drug and nutrition units. I would love the peace of mind that the individual units are as up to date as the entire curriculum.

These are the units I am talking about with the exception of the sex education unit I have purchased previously.

Dangerous Decisions Activity: Help Teens Realize Risks + Consequences

Improving Self-Esteem Unit: Includes PwrPt. and 7 Activities

Nutrition Unit: 3-Weeks of Daily Plans, 190-Slide PwrPt, Directions +

Drug Unit: 3-Weeks of Lessons to Teach the Danger of Drugs

Alcohol Unit: 9 Days of Engaging Lessons/ 116-Sld PwrPt. + 20 Handouts

Tobacco Unit: Get This Creative Way to Teach Your Tobacco Unit

Stop the Bullying: A Powerful 4-Week Empathy and Violence Unit

Stress Unit: 2.5 Weeks of Surveys, Worksheets, Projects, + Final Test

Hi Cammie: I know you will be really happy with the individual units and if that's what you can afford, than that's what you should do! They are not identical to the big curriculum, the big curriculum has a lot of extras, lesson extensions and updates, but why list them out to only make you feel bad…? You need to get what's in your budget and the units are amazing!! THanks so much for your interest :) Mrs. S.

Yes!! My plan is to do more task cards this summer. I will do 4th grade next, then third and so on down to Kindergarten, so you are in luck!! As of right now, I don't plan on bundling them, but if you email me at ahealthteacher@gmail.com I will let you know when I post them and maybe we could work out a bundle :)

I think you will really love the task cards. I'm not sure how your Health class is set up, but the task cards are perfect because you could easily teach the concepts and even do the tasks in class, or they can be sent home (or a combo of both!!)

You might want to get the 5th grade task cards now so you can prepare a bit with those before you get the others??? Then we could work out a bundle for 3 and 4???

3) Click on the green "Download Now" at the top left of the screen. Don't try click anything else-it will download and it's FREE!

4) Wherever it downloaded on your computer, open it and follow the prompts to install it.

5) Then try the right click on the curriculum files again, click on "Extract Here." DON'T JUST USE WINZIP TO OPEN YOUR FILES-you must extract them and then you will have programs on your computer to use them from then on. Winzip will expire after a limited time, so be sure you EXTRACT your files.

Hi Mrs. S.,
I am in a unique teaching situation. I have multiple grades in my classroom for 3 or sometimes 4 consecutive years. (grades 7, 8, 9, and 10) I teach ALL subject areas, and my students are considered at-risk, with many social and emotional issues. Currently, I am looking to improve my Health curriculum, because with the new standards I am required to teach Health every semester. In the past, I have purchased some items from your store and have found them VERY useful. So, the first place I looked to get new Health curriculum was to you. :-)
But I am a little overwhelmed and do not want to purchase the same units in various formats. I know I already own your Independent Health curriculum, and I have used that in our night school and summer school programs with much success. I also thought I had purchased the semester of Health lessons, but it doesn't appear in my purchases list. I am not at school now to check that out, if it was mailed in a hard drive. Do you have any way to check if I have that already? It probably was purchased by my school, West Central Area Learning Center.
I am going to need units on drugs and smoking, nutrition, first aid, emotional health (although I have purchased some of this type of units from you already) fitness, body image, alcohol, etc. Are all of these topics covered in the semester of Health classes package? If not, I am open to suggestions as far as what to purchase to supplement the semester of units.
Thanks much,
Barb

Good questions!! I have a copyright message on the "Teacher Directions" cover page (that you are welcome to copy and edit with your info if you want) You can get it off my free Food Label Reading Resource at:

http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Food-Label-Reading-Lesson-PwrPt-Is-This-Product-Healthy-FREE-88509

Then you can see in that doc I also have a copyright as a footer on each page.

Just for my huge curriculums I also did pay and registered and copyrighted them with the U.S. Copyright Office.

Also, on the bottom of every TPT webpage there is a link called "Copyright Q and A" that might help.

Good luck!! Mrs. S.

Oh, then "yes" I would say the "Best Health Curriculum" would be perfect for your "Life Skills" class. The only thing you listed that the program doesn't really have is $ management, but I have had our "Assist" students (Down Syndrome, Autism, Behavior Disorders, etc.) mainstreamed into my 9th Grade Health class and using "The Best Health" curriculum for years. They sometimes come with an adult aide, or also often by themselves and since there are so many art projects, games, computer lab activities, and hands-on projects the students really thrive and enjoy this curriculum!!

It is one semester, however you could slow it down for your classes and add some videos and easily it could be a full year program or you could use it with your same students for a second semester :)

Almost every resource I have designed for communication, conflict resolution, and empathy skills is included in the curriculum, but if you send me your email address I can send you one additional FREEBIE I have on communication skills. Mrs. S.

There are a few additional units in the 3-level program that are not in the 6-12 program, like Body Systems, Friendships, First Aid, Personal Hygeine, but the program is essentially the same, just broken up into 3 programs. If you teach the same students more than one level of Health it's definitely worth it to purchase and you'd never really be able to divide it yourself-it took me forever and I know the program inside and out!…The units and lessons are all split into 3 sequential programs, as well as all the packets, power points, and documents. Thanks, Mrs. S.

If you want to plan and organize over the summer, it might just be worth it to pay full price now :) Mrs. S.

Oh shoot-you must have a PC. Sometimes they just have trouble unzipping the many files I zipped together…Don't worry, it's an easy fix!! Just get this FREE WinZip program and all will be fine.:

PC USERS:

1) Right-click and choose "Extract Here."

2) If the files will not extract, click on: http://download.cnet.com/WinZip/3000-2250_4-10003164.html

Hello, your curriculum looks amazing and right up my teahing style. I taught science for 7 years and lost my job due to budget cuts. I had to go back to school to get a health certification to keep a job in my district. This is my 3rd year in health and it is going well. However, I am always seraching to make teaching more fun. I am interested in buying your 6-8 curriculum, however, because you sell through this website, my district will not purchase it. I, personally, am not able to afford such a large amount of money. Do you have any other suggestions for my situation?

Thank you for your interest! I have had many teachers have me fill out a vendor form and even one district had me notarize the vendor form so I could become a vendor for their school district. TPT does take purchase orders, so I would suggest you find out why your district won't allow TPT and see if they will let me apply to be a vendor, or if there is a way they will accept my program. Thanks, Mrs. S.

We all have Ipads. Maybe that will work. I will work on it and see what I can do. I have a wireless printer at home and maybe I can print it from there. A fellow teacher and I were really excited about finding this. Hopefully I can get it to work. THANKS for your time.

You are going to want to find an apple computer. The iPad may just frustrate you more...You can download curriculum on your ipad, but you won't be able to edit on an ipad because the documents open in PDF.

Also, you'll need a few certain programs. Here is how I got it to work on an ipad:

I have only downloaded on an ipad once and it on my husband's ipad just to test it out. I had to download a free PDF reader and a free "win zip" unzip application since he didn't have either of those. (See the step by step directions for free WinZip in the I previously sent you)

Then I downloaded the document and then when I clicked on the "winzip" on the home screen it was in there and it opened just fine…

YOUR BEST BET IS TO HAVE SOMEONE HELP YOU GET WINZIP (Almost every buyer I've told about WinZip has been able to get it to work) or find someone with an apple computer.

Sorry to bother, I have downloaded the program that you suggested. "Extract Here" does not show, however, "Extract all files" comes up. When that tab is clicked, I get the message that files are password protected. Not sure what to do now.

Shoot. There is no password protection on this. Do you have a tech at school who could help you, or do you have any apple computers at school, or know someone with an apple computer? If you log in to TPT and download on an apple, the apple will automatically extract and then you can just pop in a thumb drive and then drag the files to your PC. So sorry. I've never had anyone not be able to get WinZip to work…Mrs. S.

Hi,

I am looking to present this to my principal to see if this can be a reimbursable expense for the upcoming school year. Before I met with him, I am wondering if there are essential questions for each unit; something that guides the focus of the unit and each individual lesson. Additionally, do the daily lessons have learning objectives for the day?

This looks like a great resources and I am really excited.

Thanks

Hi!
I am a music teacher but working on a MS PE endorsement. We have a health teacher, so I am not as interested in those currently. Do you have a PE 6-8 curriculum with Common Core ties? I liked the activities you had for the ultimate 6-12, but since I would buy this myself, I didn't know if you had just the 6-8 for less $.
You materials look fabulous!!

Thanks!

Thanks for your interest. I don't have a separate 6-8, I just sell the 6-12 P.E. curriculum. The 6-12 does include the complete "Common Core Standards for P.E. Made Easy and Super Easy, " which is 20 activities (one for each standard) or the "Super Easy" version combines the 20 actvities into 11 great activities that make it easy to do in P.E. without giving up too much activity time! Hi Mrs. S

I want to start off by saying that I love your stuff. I recent downloaded the Food Label Scavenger Hunt to use as a Blizzard Bag for my 8th graders. I just started grading some of their packets and realized that there is an error in the KEY. #7 asks for the number of teaspoons of sugar are in the milkshake with the hint of divide the sugar grams by 4. There is 165g of sugar making the answer 41.25. Your answer key says there are 41g of sugar with an answer of 10.25. I just thought you would want to know!

Sincerely,
Gretchen Angelo

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have my Master's of Education Degree in "Instructional Technology." I also received my National Board Certification in Health in Dec. 2009. I've been a K-12 Physical Education teacher for over 30 years and been certified and teaching Health for over 20 years. I'm also certified in Language Arts. Over the years I've taught junior high P.E. and Reading, Elementary P.E., 9th Grade English, 9th Grade P.E., Aerobics, and 9th Grade Health. I've been at my current job - high school 9th Grade Health - for 18 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

The purpose of each of my health units was inspired by an awesome website called "Above the Influence." (google it and check it out!). I used these themes: 1. ABOVE THE CROWD (pressure to fit in) 2. ABOVE THE STRESS (pressure to relieve stress in harmful ways) 3. ABOVE THE INFLUENCE (pressure to use drugs) 4. ABOVE THE PRESSURE (pressure to be sexually active) 5. ABOVE THE HYPE (pressure to be perfect) 6. ABOVE THE CONTROL (pressure to judge, bully, hate, 7. ABOVE THE CONTROL PART II (Pressure to have unhealthy nutritional habits) 8. ABOVE THE PRESSURE (pressure to make dangerous decisions) 9. ABOVE THE PAST-(overcoming childhood hardships) My curriculum was designed to help teens grow in the confidence to say "I will" to the healthy choice, even in the face of extreme pressures and challenges. It was created to help teens build their self-esteem and embrace the realization that they each have the power to engineer just who they want to be.
