Hi Jaime! For AR, I do not grade kids...in first grade, I tell them they are only allowed to write down the date, title, and score if they get an 80% or higher on their test. Anything lower is not allowed to be written on the recording sheet. Once they fill their sheets, they can choose to eat lunch with me, be a gym, music, or office helper, or have an extra recess for the whole class. I know in the upper grades {2-4}, students track their actual points on the recording sheet. Both are included in this pack. Hope this helps you!

Hi! Thanks for your interest in the library labels. The actual labels for the bins are around 3.5 inches wide and 3.5 inches tall. The small labels are mailing label size and the specific Avery size is included on the printing directions sheet. Each sticker for inside the books has one picture on it, in the center. Hi and thanks for your purchase! The binder is not editable. I am not sure where you saw that. The cover updates are included every year but that is all. When I put my students' names on the binders, I just print out a sheet of labels, use my label maker or a Sharpie. Hope this helps!

Hi! Yes, this is my writing curriculum for the year. This packet gives you as much time as you want but typically each unit lasts about a month. You can add more or repeat the mini-lessons as needed. I recommend assessing your students progress as you go and see which mini-lessons you want to repeat. I try to do the workshop every day but as holidays approach, I do a lot of written responses to coincide. The only standard for writing that isn't included is opinion writing. I will be adding that this summer. If you were to purchase the bundle prior to that, you would automatically get the opinion pack, as it would be a revision/addition to the bundle. I will also be adding the standards to the bundle this summer.

For the portfolio, I don't give them a prompt; I tell them they are writing for their portfolio and that it needs to be their very best work. They are allowed to write about anything. Hi! Yes, I am a first grade teacher. I am allowed 200 color prints per year at work. My husband has a color printer at his office and I print most things there. It's 8 cents a print so to me it's worth it. I understand how frustrating it can be not to be able to print in color. I have found that its waaay too expensive to print from home. Those cheap printers suck the ink. Hope this helps!

Hello Mrs. Wheeler....I am sooo excited that I actually won one of your contests! I was just wondering when I would receive it! I am ecstatic and can't wait to use it. Hey! Thanks for downloading my freebie! I print the first, next, then, last cards on card stock and laminate. I put a magnet on the back of them and put them on my white board for the kids to come up and grab. I use them whole group while introducing the writing, also. Does this help you?

Yep! Put all cards face down. Students take turns flipping a card, reading the word and/or putting it into a sentence orally. Game continues. If someone draws a "Nuts" card, they can steal a card from another player. After all cards are gone, students write any 6 words they have out of their pile. Winner can be the player with the most or least, depending in what you choose!!
