We did this as a class, working together with me modeling how to articulate the prophecies. It was a helpful starter, as my students were very prepared to identify the apparitions in Act IV after using this form in Act I. Thanks for sharing!

I focus on the commentary step (step #3). That's where I can really put a stop to cheating and the students pick up on that right away. I typically use students' work as examples (no names, of course) and we discuss their work as we go through Act 1. I show the students what we call examples and "non-examples" and we discuss how to improve or add depth to the commentary in the "non-examples." I also give the students a copy of the rubric I use to grade it. Doing this with the first act tends to put a stop to the cheating. Another thing I do is have the students write about their findings. I typically do this as an in class timed writing. That way if the students have copied someone else's work, they have a hard time writing about it. TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Earlier this year I moved to Oklahoma when my husband transferred with his job. Prior to that, I taught for eight years in Texas. During that time I taught 10th grade English, 12th grade English, 9th grade English, SAT Prep, and remedial courses. Over the past four years, I have taught Pre-AP English 2, AP English Language & Composition, and English 3 Dual Credit.
MY TEACHING STYLE
I believe that flexibility in style is the most important quality to have as a teacher. I thoroughly enjoy cooperative learning activities so I use those when I can. But I also know that cooperative learning is not always appropriate so I vary those activities with outside reading, whole class discussion, and independent activities.
