My students love the "game" center during literacy centers. I hope your students enjoy playing and reviewing! I always have them play the game after introducing the lesson of the week and after doing one of the workbook pages. This helps the students to be more independent in playing the game as a group!

Did you download the freebie Problem of the Week? If you haven't, please do so. It has one problem of the week. The 1-5 P.O.W. is five problems; one per week. Each has two pages. One page is the problem with a place to draw or show the problem, then the student writes to explain, and finally give the answer. It allows the teacher to see the students' thinking process. Students can come up with the answer in a variety of ways. Also included is a rubric to make grading easy. It also helps students to double check their own work to see if they met all of the criteria. I hope that helps! : ) Diane

I have a structured classroom, however, we play games to make learning fun! Whenever we can move around during an activity, we do. Adding movement, music, graphics or hands on activities encourages all learners. We have a busy classroom!

I received my Bachelor of Science in Physical Education in 1988. I received my Elementary Endorsement in 1993. In 1997, I received my Master's in Education (Diverse Learner) from the University of Phoenix.
ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
Since I was seven years old, I wanted to be a mommy and a teacher. I am married to a retired Army officer and we have three boys: one gifted, one autistic and one who has high anxiety. I have learned so much from my three amazing boys! Dealing with my own struggles in learning and with my sons has made me a much better teacher than I would have been without these experiences. My supportive husband has made me a better person, mom, and teacher.
