dcw1973 re: Argumentative Writing - Toulmin Model
I recently purchased this argument method, but I cannot get the videos to work. What exactly are the videos all about? Is there a way to get the videos to show up? I even went onto youtube to see if I could pull up the videos.

If youtube is blocked in your district, you may not be able to watch the video. The link is: are http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGtQdRUyWrI It is a video talking about the benefits have having a pet in the classroom titled: Pets in the Classroom from Pet Care Trust. The remaining two links are actually articles (pdf) files for students to read to help gather evidence to support their claim. If you can't get those to work, I'd be happy to send you the articles. I didn't write them so I didn't feel comfortable 'selling' them. Just send me your email address and I'll forward them along if you like.

Thank you very much for your purchase!

Thank you for responding to my question. It must be a WiFi issue. We did have no trouble doing the Context Clues activity since it doesn't require it, but we will have to move to the one room in our buliding that has WiFi to do the others. Thanks again. They are great activities and my students LOVED the one we did!

Hi, I just love your QR code activities, but I am having trouble with the codes not scanning on the main idea and figurative language ones. The context clues ones work fine. I don't know if I did something wrong or what. If you could advise me what to do I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

I wish I had a little more information to help you. :( I tested them with my reader just now and they are working. Did you try iQR reader? I've had good luck with that QR code scanner, it's more forgiving. Are you using Wifi? The two two stations utilize Wifi connections to access the file, could it be a wifi issue? The context clue station does not require a Wifi connection.

It usually takes my students 3 - 4 days to evaluate the evidence. Then we take another 2 days to complete a response project. This year we did Glogsters and they turned out FABULOUS. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

I don't always assign the story started but provided it as a narrative option. It's an alternative genre (rather than expository) to report how the events happened on the evening of the murder. I hope that's what you were asking!

I just tested it and it works in my iPad but I think I figured out the problem. If you see mobile and web version at the bottom, choose web....the mobile version isn't showing the secret code words. I am also changing the site for you so it shows either way. I'm very worried about this and want it to work for you so please let me know if you continue to have problems!!

Thanks,

I have purchased and downloaded this lesson. The symbol is not showing up for the first code. After I hit submit with my answer I get a screen that says Beyond the Eight Ball and a few other things at the top and bottom, but no symbol. Where I believe that should be showing up is in the white main screen area.
Thank you

Hello there! I'm so sorry you're having trouble. The "secret codes" are words. Are you seeing the word "WILLIS" "LINCOLN" and "SHADOW? to the right of the secret codes box? They appear under the correct answers and are a bit small. I see that there is a great deal of white space at the bottom of the page, but nothing belongs there. Please let me know if you still can't see it. I truly want you to be satisfied

Ok. Sorry about that. Here you go!!

Exposition: The exposition is the INTRODUCTION to the story. In this section the SETTING is established and the CHARACTERS are introduced.
Rising Action: During the rising action section, you see a clear SEQUENCE OF EVENTS that are leading you in a specific direction. Often you begin to see a series of conflicts and crisis in the story that leads to the CLIMAX_.
Climax: This is the MOST EXCITING part of the story and is often the _TURNING POINT of a story where the ACTION is taking place.
Falling Action: Any EVENTS_ or CONFLICT that takes place following the climax.
Resolution: the CONCLUSION , the TYING UP of all of the threads
