When I was in my practicum, I used this for 1st grade. Then, as a 3rd grade teacher, I used it again, but modified my expectations and took discussion of Fairy Tales to a deeper level. I think this was well-thought out and the kids loved it!

No, these are bio folders that support an author study. You simply read the bio to your class and as you read her books, you would fill out what you notice from her books as a class. Hope that helps!

I'm wondering if you have the most updated viewers installed? Also, might you have access to another printer? Sometimes they come out funny if the viewer isn't up to date. I'm so sorry you are having trouble with it. I haven't heard this from anyone else so I'm not thinking that the file is corrupted. I wouldn't be offended at all of you contacted tpt for a refund. Hello,
I am writing you in regards to the Teacher Appreciation Jack Pot. I made a huge error. I was so excited on Sunday I spent hours and hours on a very slow computer going to every site that participated. I might have looked around a bit and became a follower. I was so inspired by all of you bloggers. Anyways, I went to every single site and added the TPA Freebie to my wishlist because the computer I was on has a virus and was not cooperating. SSSLLLOOOWWW!!!! So I thought if I just add it to my wish list on Monday morning I will download them on my school computer where I do all or most of my school work anyway. I was so excited I woke up super early so I could get to school and download them. Come to find out you had to pay for them. I wanted to cry. I emailed tpt and when they finally got back to me they said unfortunately there was nothing they could do. I was suppose to download them. I don’t recall ever reading that anywhere but I am very new to all of this. They said I had to email each one of you individually. Yes, then and there I just about started to cry. I had 120 items I added to my wishlist. I was on the computer all day Sunday doing this.
I am just wondering if you would be so kind to email or what ever you have to do so that I can download your freebie. I thought I would try! Thank you for your creative inspiring blog!!

that is tough (sorry to just now be replying- i had no clue this was here!) The only ones i've found that are grade level appropriate were folk tales that were scaled back and retold- so not the best for a quality story. There should be more, huh!

When researching fairy tale books to use, I noticed many are at a grade 3 or 4 level with an interest level of K-2. (??) Do you use those books as read-alouds only? I am a workshop teacher, so they weren't reading these books independently unless they were reading them as a "look book" in their book baggie. In other words, this unit was done during the thematic study part of my day and not during workshop when they were reading just right books. I totally understand! =)What I'd recommend is that when you download the unit it its entirety and look at the page numbers. I offered pages 1-31 for free and pages 32-57 here on TpT. When you go to print and you're on the print page where you select paper and number of copies etc...you can enter a page range to print. Enter 32-57 and you'll only print the 2nd half! I hope that makes sense. I would just send you half, but when I finished the Part I of the Fairy Unit, I continued on the same document- so I no longer have two versions.

It's actually in the Fairy Tale Unit I posted. It was easier that way. THe first half I gave away on the blog- you'll notice that it was 30(ish) pages and this one is more like 57 pages (I think!) so it's all there!

MY TEACHING STYLE
I'm a workshop teacher. I do Unit of Study and teach through balanced literacy components that work towards the current goals of the unit we are studying. You won't find me making a bunch of centers, or anything that requires me to do a ton of work to create, but you will find activities that require your children to be thinkers and have meaningful conversations that support their work as independent readers and writers.
