This is an excellent activity for critical thinking. We filled out the "Beast" worksheet together and part of the Internationale. They are assigned the rest for homework for us to discuss tomorrow. I plan to have them write a short essay to summarize their findings.

To be honest, in education, most teachers use a lot of images online without much consideration.. There are laws in place that protect teacher's use of materials in the pursuit of education-- you can review them on page 6 of the following document (http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ21.pdf) I don't know much more than that though-- sorry I couldn't be more helpful. :/

Aphrodite introduced Paris to the couple because Aphrodite's bribe was that Paris would win the most beautiful woman. He sailed with Helen to Troy. Helen's was the "face that launched a thousand ships." I've added additional slides because the presentation is quite limited.

Hi--
I guess that would depend on what level of special education you teach. The assignment requires students to comment upon literature on a literal and more interpretive level. For a RSP class, I would imagine this assignment would work fine- especially if you model the first one with them. I think it would really depend on the skill level of your students.

I've tried it at every point, but I've had the most success when I use it after the book is done. Since the students are already familiar with the story and its characters at that point, figures like Stalin and Lenin begin to sound very familiar to them and it is much easier for them to make the allegorical connection. Hope that helps... good luck!!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching high school for the past 8 years. Throughout that time, I have taught English in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. I have also taught multiple levels of ELD (ESL). In addition to actual "in class experience", I have been a curriculum development specialist for online education through California State University Fullerton (CSUF).
