This powerpoint was JUST what I was looking for. Students do not know how to use a book in this age of technology and this powerpoint was great for teaching about this marvelous book.
Overall, I really liked it. I would have liked to see some more traditional almanacs included. Also would have liked the information spread out over several slides because it was so jam packed full of good stuff. I agree a few more practice questons. A little pricey for 9 slides. But I would check out your stuff again :)
Great for my 6th & 7th graders. The questions on our state test give choices of reference sources and ask which would be used to locate certain info. Used it for note taking to fill in a Venn diagram comparing an almanac and an encyclopedia because those seem to be the two that are often confusing to students. I think this helped clarify the difference for them in conjunction with looking at a volume of the encyclopedia and the few almanacs we have. Thanks!!
Great PowerPoint to use with my 5th graders to introduce the Almanac. A little colorful, but information was great and the real images from the book are perfect. Overall this was a great find and saved me lots of work!
This was a PERFECT mini-lesson in our unit on reference materials! The students really enjoyed it... bright, exciting, etc! Thank you!

ddemars re: Library Search Party - Library Scavenger Hunt - Information Literacy
Ms. J, I have tried downloading this file on a couple different computers and each time it says it needs to be converted. The page indicates it is in Microsoft Word which is the program I have open. I have tried it in both Word 2003 and 2007. Any ideas? Thanks!
Scratch my last answer-- somehow i thought you were referrring to my Almanac powerpoint. Sorry! As for this problem, I honestly don't know. It was created in microsoft word. I don't know why you would need to convert it unless you have the newest word 2000 i think. But even then, it would automatically convert and open. Sorry i cant be of more assistance.
