Julie M. re: Hundreds Pocket Chart Number Cards 1 - 1,200 {for games and counting}
Just making sure before I purchase, what are the dimensions of each individual number card? Thanks!
July 4, 2014
Ms. K  (TpT Seller)
Julie, they are almost exactly the same size as the ones you buy in the store that go to 100 with a pocket chart. I know because I put them up against each other to make sure they would fit okay. They are about 1 ⅞ inches across and 1 13/16 high--not perfectly square but close. In cm they are 4 ½ cm high and 4 7/10 cm wide. I hope that helps. To see them in action, I'm showing some in a pocket chart here... http://teacherblogspot.com/?p=3166. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Susan Mescall  (TpT Seller) re: Fill in Decimal Number Charts 0.001-1 {like hundreds charts}
Ms. K,
I was on a math website this morning where this product was shown as a free download! As you can see, I , too am a member of TpT and I could not in good faith, download this once I saw your thank you note for purchasing.
I have included the link to the website blog offering your product. It was your decimal charts for hundredths only, but I felt you needed to know ASAP.

Robin G. re: Adding/Subtracting 10 and Multiples of 10 with the 100's Chart Packet
It was not an inconvenience and it is certainly not the only time I have copied a product and then found an error while completing it with my students. It should teach me to proof read before I make copies. I love this product and am very happy with it.

Robin G. re: Adding/Subtracting 10 and Multiples of 10 with the 100's Chart Packet
I was using this with my summer school class today and we noticed a few errors. I am sorry to mention it here but I could not find an email address for you in your store. On page 7, I think it should say "add a 10" for number 6 and on page 11, I think it should say "add a 10" for number 6 and numbers 2 and 3 should have the expression in the first sentence. Also, I was wondering if you could change any of the values for pages 11 and 13 so that we are using 4 different columns for circling. For example, on page 13, numbers 1 and 3 use the same column and numbers 2 and 4 use the same column. The students had a hard time counting the rows for the second problem without getting mixed up with the circles for the first problem. Thanks...

Robin, I've uploaded a new product file and added a couple of extra pages. I really am so sorry that I caused you inconvenience with your students. You were very kind to take the time tell me about the errors you found in my product. I would like to do something nice for you as well. If you will email me at teacherblogspot@gmail.com, I will discuss this with you further.

Sarah,

Have you clicked on the paperclip attachment on the side of the smart notebook screen. This is where the worksheets are. There are only 4 pages of the smart notebook file with the four different slides showing place value discs. If you are still having problems let me know.

Kelly M. re: Discovering the Commutative Property of Multiplication Lesson Plans & Activities
Hi,

I purchased your Commutative Properties activities packet, but for some reason the first 8 pages will not print. Not sure what is happening. Any suggestions you have would be great. Thanks! Kelly
August 27, 2013
Ms. K  (TpT Seller)
Kelly, I am so sorry you are having that problem. Is this happening on your home printer/computer or school computer/printer. I suggest trying to print from a different computer/printer to see if it may have something to do with the settings on your computer/printer. Are the other pages printing ok? I haven't had anyone else mention having any printing problems, so I don't think it is a problem with the file. If you are still having difficulties printing after trying another printer, let me know and I will definitely check to see if something is wrong with the file.

Heidi Andre  (TpT Seller) re: Money Activities: Coin Recognition and Counting
Hi! I just have a question that I wasn't sure where to find the answer to...I have an excellent money activity that took me hours upon hours to create (DAYS)...but in order to post it on TPT, I'll need to recreate it using different money images. I originally just used the images from teacherscorner to do it since I was just using it in my own classroom. I just want to make sure that I do this the right way before spending SO much time putting it together, without having to worry about violating any copyrights. Can I take pictures of real money? Is there a good place to buy realistic clipart? If you could help me, that would be so great! I really want to get started on this TPT. It looks like such a great thing! I really appreciate it!
August 28, 2012
Ms. K  (TpT Seller)
The money on the front page of my coin activities is from the 3 am teacher who sells clip art on TPT which she designed for people to use on TPT. I would recommend using that. There are colored coins like you see, and coins with white, and transparent backgrounds. I hope that helps!http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/The-3am-Teacher

Hello,
I am a home educator without a Smartboard. Is it possible to purchase this as a powerpoint instead, or in a PDF format?
Thanks very much

Ms. K  (TpT Seller)
I can post the item as a power point, but then you lose the ability to move the discs around and clone them. I can also post only the worksheet packet in PDF so you can have those alone too. I will be happy to accommodate you however I can. Just let me know what you would like me to do. 5/20 I posted the worksheet packet that goes with the smartboard file in PDF alone in case you wanted just that.

This looks like a great card sort. I especially like that you included one card that doesn't belong to encourage discussion. Would you mind changing "cubes" in the directions to "cube's"? Thanks so much.

Launie B. re: Addition/Subtraction Regrouping with Discs (like Singapore Math) Smartboard
Ms. K-I very much appreciated the Singapore Math Lesson you posted on TPT. We are in our first year of using Math in Focus the Singapore Approach in our district. I am looking for some more support activities to align with my second grade curriculum. Would you consider creating more Singapore material?

Thank you for the lessons you create and the help you may be able to give.

Yes, is there something in particular you are looking for? I have made an addition card sort for first grade with number discs for double digit numbers, and I have been considering building more sorts to go with it. In a few days I am posting a set of card sorts for use with unifix cubes. I have the set of card sorts pretty well finished, but I just need to check it and make sure it is free of typos before I post it. Anyhow, after I post it look and see if you would be interested in something like it except with Singapore number discs.

3/19/2012
Launie, I wanted you to know I am working on an addition and subtraction Singapore number discs card sort this week similar to the one with the unifix cubes.

I just purchased your Singapore Math Addition/Subtraction with Regrouping Smartboard Lesson and could not see where the printables are located for downloading. I received the Smartboard base ten charts but can't find the printables. Thank you for your help. I have been looking for Math in Focus lessons and was excited to find this one.

Thank you so much for making a purchase from my store, I'm so glad I could help :). If you click on the paper clip tab which may be on the right or left hand side of your screen depending on where you have placed your slide sorter (the gray part of the screen with all the slides) they should appear. If you still have a problem and they will not open, let me know.

Every New Beginning Blog  (TpT Seller) re: Interactive Valentine Volume Bulletin Board
How did you introduce this lesson? I understand that the students created various nets- but did you assign them the nets or did they create them on their own? Also, how did they divide the nets into the chocolate squares? Did you given them the nets with an outline? Thanks!
February 2, 2011
Ms. K  (TpT Seller)
Before, I taught this lesson, students used the TERC math investigation from the Solids and Boxes unit (I'm almost certain that's the name, but not positive) in which they investigate how to find volume when given a box outline with squares (net) drawn on it. The students estimate the volume first before they cut out the nets and then they cut out the nets and test their predictions. I taught that lesson the day before or so. We had spent 2-3 days on volume before this lesson. Then I had students create their own "box of chocolates" with grid paper (whatever size fit snap cubes perfecty--I believe 3/4 inch grid paper). Students were given the liberty to create a rectangular prism with any dimensions that they were able to fit on their paper. I did not give them the outline. They created their own outline. The only chocolate squares are the snap cubes they used to represent chocolate pieces in the box. on the day I taught this lesson (which was about 3 years ago...I have since changed positions)I didn't spend a lot of time teaching volume since I had already covered the concept. I did model an example of what I wanted them to do. Students recorded their dimensions and total cubic units on the back of their net. I am the one who labeled them A, B, C, etc. for the bulletin board. Students were simply given blank grid paper. I hope this answers your questions. If not, let me know.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have eleven years of experience with this being my twelfth. I am now in the sixth year of my position as (K-5) math facilitator. Previous to being a math facilitator, I worked as a third grade teacher for 6 years. Three of my 6 years as a third grade teacher, I departmentalized teaching mainly math, science, and social studies.

MY TEACHING STYLE

When teaching I listen to students' misconceptions, and build my lessons around struggles that students may have had. I aspire to reach all learners' needs by providing differentiated instruction. I also seek to provide challenging instruction and tasks which focus on having students explain their thinking. My products come from struggles that I notice students having or challenges that I think students need to further their understanding of math concepts.
