TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught a semester of Reading at the Middle School level and have taught 8 years of English at the High School level. I have designed and implemented many curricula including: grammar, writing, mythology, American literature, Shakespeare, and poetry. I have a Masters in English Education and have just completed coursework for National Board Certification.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use all teaching styles, dependent upon my students' needs. This includes traditional lectures, cooperative learning, guided practice, and individualized instruction. I like to mix it up!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a BA in American Literature and Composition from Truman State University; a Masters in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia; and just finished coursework for National Board Certification. I continue taking classes from various universities, using student-teacher credits I acquired by being a cooperating teacher. I am proud to say that I have had 8 outstanding student teachers!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I love teaching... it is an art form. One of the hardest things about teaching is knowing where to begin. I am posting some of my lessons and activities because I know how hard and frustrating it can be to recreate the wheel. I hope what I have is useful!
