Hello Dale,

Love your idea here! The game seems very similar to poison rhythm, and I had never thought to basically make poison solfege, or turn it into an ongoing thing. What a great way to apply rote before note.

I was wondering if you had a bundle of any of your lessons?

Thanks,
Ashley

Hi Ashley!

I am so glad you like the idea!

I am not familiar with poison rhythm. Where can I find it?! I'd like to incorporate that into my classroom!

I haven't bundled my lessons yet. I started uploading them in August of 2013. I will finish in March of 2014. Between March and August, I plan to put together bundles of various types.

Thank you for the purchase! I hope it works well for you in your classroom.

Hi Dale,
I just visited your wonderful blog, and it makes me wish you taught at my school! We would have a blast! But when I tried to leave a comment, I received a message that I have to be a team member. I am already a follower, and I've never seen this message on Blogger before.
I don't know if you have intentionally programmed this setting, but I recommend that you change it. Allowing comments on your blog will get you a lot more exposure. Bloggers thrive on comments! And your blog is terrific; I'm sure it will take off.
Best of luck!

Hello again. Writing you here so you can delete me easily. I accepted your pinterest invite a couple days ago but after accepting, I don't get added to the board. It just goes to the board with no change in status. I am guessing it's a pinterest gliche in your board. Don't know exactly what to do...?

I have tried every invite you've sent, and none works. :(
I appreciate the effort thought. I receive the invite via email (unusual for me) and never on the actual Pinterest page. I click "Accept", and then I'm taken right back to my Pinterest page.

Here are some more pieces of info that you can try if you want.

Hello, Mr. D. I believe that you are doing many of the things that will make you and your store successful. But let me start with my top three recommendations for TPT first. Keep in mind that I started tpt in Jan 2008. It has only taken off recently because I am now able to give it some TLC.

TPT Recommendations:
1. Be patient! Things will not happen overnight. I recommend taking things slow and steady. Connect with fellow sellers by communicating on the tpt forums; I’ve learned a lot and received great advice from fellow sellers. Attend pinning party’s or linky parties but always respect the rules of these parties.
2. Reach your targeted audience from a variety of marketing tools. For example Pinterest and Facebook are great marketing tools for us because we can locate and reach our targeted audience easier (teachers/sellers). Although I don’t have a blog, I know that many sellers’ blog are very successful in reaching their targeted audience. Again take it slow! If you feel you can give quality time to all those avenues than go for it. If not, choose the best ones that work for you and give it the TLC it needs to grow.
3. Create and post quality products that are priced right. There may be times when buyers will not like it and give a poor rating to a product or products. But don’t get discouraged. Take that negative feedback and make your products better. It is very important to keep your loyal followers following. Quality products and excellent customer service will accomplish that. Make improvements to your products and repost it. Notify any buyers that may have bought it in the past 30 days and respond to any and all comments or questions in your inbox.

Pinterest Recommendations:
1. Be patient again! I started Pinterest in Oct of 2012 and at first it was very slow going. Take it slow and steady. You don’t want pinterest to see you as spam.
2. Create collaborative boards and invite pinners that WILL pin to the board. Although my board has over 1000 pinners, I often see the same pinners pinning. But don’t be discourage because even though they are not pinning, they are following and are seeing the pins on that board.
3. Request to be invited to other boards and pin responsibly. Pin relevant products on the boards and pin on a variety of boards and at different times of the day. Don’t flood the board; it will only frustrate other pinners which may get you deleted off the board.

You’re doing great! Be proud of your accomplishments here and just enjoy the ride!

Hi Mr. Music. Am SO excited you're here! Love what you're up to! You guessed it--I'm your newest follower. I don't have a choir at present as we recently changed cities but what I do have is a mom who runs a music school w/a choir, a sister and brother who work at said music school with many teacher friends to share your material with. I'm published in choral form (Alfred Music and SBMP for four part choir)...in other words, I will pass on your store link many friends in the right places, hopefully. FINALLY! Someone like you on TPT. Woot toot!

This is a link to my own middle school/HS choir. We were almost Glee (long story). I was ringleader, music teacher for a decade. Most the kids I record are from this group. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66qhb8yQNkI

I hope you join the pinterest music pages. I also make videos; at www.Iambullyproofmusic.org, www.vocalsbylocals.com, bridgesandbonn.com and am excited you are doing that also. I love your smile, I love your style, and hope we can be friends. If you'd ever like to collaborate on anything, please let me know. I'm about to make a documentary on our music. Wonder if I can plug you too? That kind of thing! Just let me know. Sincerely, Lessia Bonn. and btw, You've just made me smile way before Christmas. Your vid is great!

Thank you so much for the note! I am working hard to get things rolling. So much to learn! The Youtube video was fun! Lots of passion in there! The vowel section was great "buhth-day". :)

Thanks for passing the stuff along to your music friends! I think the Sight Singing info can be really helpful for new, young teachers. I was terrible at teaching it in the early years. It's so hard to get across to inexperienced young middle school singers, but I've found ways that work with them that I'll be sharing in my future offerings as I teach my new 6th graders the basics.

Thanks again! Great to hear from you!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I just completed my 21st year of teaching public school. 20 of those years have been spent teaching middle school children. I have taught in North Carolina, New Jersey, and I am currently teaching in the state of Georgia. I have developed a Sight Singing method called S-Cubed that works very well for choral students from 4th grade to 8th grade. I have used the method with my own students for many years. I have taught workshops on S-Cubed for about 5 years including presentations at the Georgia Music Educator's State Convention. Teaching Middle School is not for the faint of heart! In the early days, I felt like a miserable failure. Now, I want to share some of the lessons I learned along the way to help other middle school teachers and music teachers!

MY TEACHING STYLE

*I want the children to laugh every single day. *I reward children when they do the right thing. The students in my room often have to dodge flying Starburst candy. *I hold children accountable when they don't do the right thing, and I always strive to do it while maintaining 100% of the their dignity. *Respect is a continuous circle. *My least favorite quote as a child was "Wait until you get into the real world.....". Well....ever since that day, I've done my best to avoid it. It sounds like a horrible place to live. :)

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Master of Music University of North Carolina at Greensboro 1988 Bachelor of Music University of North Carolina at Greensboro 1986

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

*I am a former US National Aerobic Gymnastics Champion. I love fitness and teach group fitness classes on the side. *Certified by the Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG) as an International Judge for Aerobic Gymnastics. *I lived in Switzerland for one year 2009-2010. While there, I traveled to 10 European countries. Amazing Experience! *I absolutely love animals. It's definitely my Mom's fault. :) I have a cat named Odie (acts like a dog), a Maltese dog named Max, and a bird named "Birdie" (original, I know). She has been with me since I started teaching in 1989.
