I like the classic where she and Ethel are working in the candy factory, but any episode with a clear plot will work.

Hi,
Thanks for your clip art. I plan on creating teacher resources to sell on TpT, Teacher's Notebook and my own website, Learning with Puppets. (I have not begun to sell anything yet.)
May I use your clip art for these purposes? Of course I will give you proper credit and link back to your store.

Thank you,
Mary Beth Spann

I taught second grade at my old school, and we had a similar system--quarterly rewards for good behavior--but students didn't keep a balance sheet. They were basically given demerits for misbehavior which the teachers tracked. If they had too many--an average of one per week--they did not get to participate.

I love you stuff but my question is actually about your school-wide behavior reward. Would you mind sharing how it works? (ideas for rewards, activites, what the others who don't earn it do,etc) Thanks!

I actually moved to a new school this past year, and we have quarterly behavior rewards. Students receive a "balance sheet" each Monday morning which they staple into their agendas. (Their agenda books are taken with them to each class and used as hall passes.) Students earn pretend money for following rules, turning in homework, etc. ($5 per class per day for a total of $20 per day or $100 per week.) Money may be deducted by any teacher who deals with a student breaking a rule or not having homework. (The teacher deducts the money from the balance sheet and signs his/her initials.) Each Friday in homeroom, students tally up the amount earned for the week and give their balance sheets to their homeroom teacers. The amount in entered into a spreadsheet. At the end of the nine weeks, students who earned 80% or more of the amount possible participate in a reward. These may be a movie with popcorn, extra recess, or anything we think would motivate the students. This year we actually had "Twin Day" where students could dress up like other students, get their pictures made together, and get small prizes for the ones who look the most alike. They also watched a movie and had popcorn. You can see photos here: http://www.mercer.kyschools.us/mcis/Twin_Day Students who don't earn the reward all go to the same room to catch up on any work they owe or to read quietly. The students of the teacher keeping the non-participators are split up between the remaining classrooms. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

I just saw that your question was in response to the Dr. Seuss Day item. When I taught second grade, students got to wear pajamas to school, bring a snack, and something to sit on. We read Dr. Seuss books on the floor in groups for fun, ate green eggs and ham with birthday cake for lunch (provided by the cafeteria)and allowed them to have a "toy party" for recess. (Students aren't usually allowed to bring toys to school.

Do you allow your clip art to be used on activity sheets that I would create, use in my classroom, and then be offered and sold on this site or elsewhere?

Sorry for taking so long to reply--I'm in Kentucky and the ice storm took out our power. Anyway, the clip art can be used for any worksheets you create and use in your classroom, but not for selling anywhere. Thanks!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 26th year as an elementary school teacher, and I'm currently working in 4th grade. I enjoy using technology for teaching and for creating teaching materials. I am the webmaster of my intermediate school, and also maintain my literacy team's blog.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use some cooperative learning structures, especially those created by Dr. Spencer Kagan. It's important for me to show the relationship between what we are learning and the real world to keep students interested. It also doesn't hurt to keep their attention with a little humor!
