I emailed your end of year packet, adorable. I assumed that when I purchased it, the template for the boys/girls that are displayed with the "I am" poem would be included but I don't seem to see them. Your description said "get the template at my TPT store". Where can I get the templates?
Thank you.

Carrie, I did not create the template for those dolls. It is just something I found, and then tied it to the "I AM" poems. I went back and reread the blog post, and can see how you might have been led to believe that the doll templates were included. I will have to go back and edit that post for the future.

What I can do is pick up the templates from work today, and when I get home, I will scan them and send them to you tonight. Sorry about any confusion, and about not being more clear in my blog post. Can you please use my email address in the back of your writing journal packet to send me your email address? Thanks so much.

Connorj,

Thanks so much for your question. The duplicate pages with the UK spellings are at the end of the download as a courtesy to my UK/Aussie friends. If you look towards the front, the US spelling of "favorite" is used. If you have any further difficulty, please email me at mrsriosteaches@gmail.com

Hi Nicole,

I teach 5th grade. I was wondering if you have blank pages for the Parts of Speech Flipbook that I could advance it for my 5th graders to make as a fun way to review all 8 parts of speech NVP AA PIC (noun, verb, pronoun, adjective, adverb, preposition, interjection, and conjunction.)

I LOVE your polka dots on the flipbook, too! I have polka dots in my classroom with a polka dot theme running here and there throughout my classroom.

Thanks for anything that you could do.

Have a great day.

Thanks for your question, Judy. Right now I do not have those pages (prepositions, interjections, and conjunctions) available for fifth grade. I do have some ideas floating around for future products. I will definitely keep your needs, and suggestions, in mind. Thanks, again.

Let me know. Thanks for your wonderful work.

Hi Nicole,
I think your materials are complete - fun- and exciting. I would make a suggestion to add the standards that the skill covers so that it becomes more teacher friendly and quick to check off the list. Please let me know if you make that minor adjustment, as I love your materials! Other than that, keep on creating!

Thank you so much for this idea. I have been working on updating, revising, and improving my products and will most definitely go back and add the standards. Thanks again, for your kind suggestion, and for helping make my products more teacher-friendly.

Julie, It is funny that you should ask this question, because I have been battling with myself, as to whether I should make one for 3rd. In your opinion, do you think a book, similar to the 2nd grade book, would be received well by 3rd grade students and teachers? I wasn't sure if the format was too primary for students who are practically 4th graders. I would love to hear your thoughts.

I am in my first year as a Kindergarten teacher. Classroom management is tough. You me? I have downloaded several of your making good choices card sets, but as you say, it's not the whole of classroom management. What is the lights system about? How does it work?

Hi Wendy, In my classroom everyone starts on a Green card(Ready to Learn). I just laminated and cut pieces of construction paper. They have the opportunity to move up to Yellow (Super Star). Or, move down. The first time I have to remind a student about following the rules, they change their card to Orange (Think About It!). It is just a warning. The second time, they change their card to red (Teacher's Choice). Here, I choose the consequence that seems most appropriate for the "crime". Usually, it is time in Study Hall, missed recesses, and/or a phone call home. The last color is Blue (Parent Conference). The consequences for this card are pretty obvious, but also include sending students to the Office. Finally, only students remaining on a Green or Yellow card get their behavior card punched/stamped.

There are similar systems with more colors, but 5 is easy to manage for me. I adapted this system from Rick Morris. He has a great website! You can google it.

I hope that my explanation is helpful. Let me know if I can be of further help, and best wishes for a great year.

Kyanna,

Oh, thats not good. So you were not able to even download ActivInspire using the link?

I am sending you a link below that is a bit more specific.

http://support.prometheanplanet.com/server.php?show=nav.29751&changeCountry=United+States

(First, you will need to register with Promethean). Then, you need to pick Windows, and the free Personal Edition. It will take you through the rest.

If that does not work...

1) You can apply to TPT for a refund. Here is the url to do that:

https://support.teacherspayteachers.com/

or

2) I would be willing to email you the printable PDF materials file instead. The url to preview the materials is below:

http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Counting-Coins-Made-Easy-with-Differentiated-Materials

Note that these are printables and cannot be used on an interactive whiteboard. You will need to email me if you select this option at mrsriosteaches@gmail.com.

If neither of these options are good for you, if you have any ideas as to how we can remedy this and have you walk away happy, I am open to hearing them.

I'm so sorry you are having trouble. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Thank you for your many freebies and other products. Re: one of the sentences on the adverb page: "We sleep upstairs." Wouldn't the "upstairs" be a noun rather than an adverb?

Thanks for the question. I had to go back and think about my logic on that one. I am going to speak with one of my teaching partners, who is a grammar expert. However, I do believe that because the word "upstairs" qualifies the verb by answering where the action happened, that it is an adverb. If I am mistaken, I will fix it and reload right away. Thanks again.

Help! I do not understand how you assembled your book. It is probably very simple and I just don't get it!!!!

Nicole Rios  (TpT Seller)
No problem, Katherine.

First, make your copies. Pages should be in order and then copied back-to-back. Then, fold each page so when each page is folded, all the text (from front and back) are on the same side. Then, layer the book in order (which I believe is also biggest to smallest).

If you need any more help, let me know. Sometimes I wish I had my own hotline.

Nicole,
I now see it and I know I scrolled down many times and it was not there. After I wrote my second comment, it showed up.

I liked your statement about 7 and 8 year olds not always being developmentally ready(traditionally). First graders don't do money and our grade is expected to teach and have the students master money. I know what a hard task this is.

I think what you said makes sense. I appreciate you taking the time to explain. Thanks, Ann

Where do you teach? In California, our first graders do practice coin recognition, some basic counting, and coin combinations.

I am on my IPad so please forgive me if you addressed this(scrolling was harder with the download) but when do you eventually move your students on to no dots/touch points? I am just curious because this sounds like an interesting way of teaching counting coins and that is coming up soon in the curriculum. Thanks for the information.

Nicole Rios  (TpT Seller)
A.Shep,

Originally, I used to save touchpoints for only those students who could not count coins in the traditional way. However, the last couple of years, I have introduced my whole class to counting coins with touchpoints first. I find that touchpoints really helps solidify the value and recognition of each coin.

Some students in second grade will use touchpoints the whole year. However, without fail, my math whizzes will convert themselves over to traditional counting (they soon find the touchpoint method laborious and inefficient). It is the "middle of the road" student that would need to be nudged into traditional counting.
In my download, I mentioned that while we are learning to count coins, we are always practicing skip counting by 5, 10, 25, and 50 and making amounts using different coin combinations. These subskills really help move kids move themselves over. However, I must say that I do not feel any urgency to move kids over. I see it happening "naturally" as one of those teachable moments kind of things. Students just begin to "chunk" larger values together on their own. So, instead of counting the touchpoints for two quarters, they will just start with"50" and continue counting.
In short, my personal philosophy is that is a developmental thing..and not all students are going to be ready to count coins traditionally by 7-8 years old. This is a long, and perhaps, unsatisfactory answer to your question..so I apologize. I would say, if you are concerned about it, then stick to traditional counting with your whole class and save touchpoints for the students who seem to be struggling.
I really do appreciate your question, and I would be interested in any thoughts you have about my reply.
