This is great. The black and white template pages are coming through misaligned. Partial pictures are showing. Any thoughts on what to do? It is happening on my school and home computer. Thanks for any advice.

Hi, I was wondering if the black and white template was showing up misaligned only on the screen. If so, zoom in and see if it does not correct itself. Sometimes, a zoomed out page can make lines appear to be shifted. If however, you have printed the page and it has come out with misaligned blocks, I am not able to say what the cause of this problem is because I just checked the file myself. Maybe it's a different version of MS Word that is the issue. This sounds like a tech issue especially since you say that partial pictures are showing, so I would suggest that you contact Customer Support and let them check the quality of the download for you. Please let me know if you are able to get the assistance you need from them, if not, I will email it to you perhaps as a pdf file and word file. - Nyla.

No, I cannot guarantee that all of them will. The lighter colors will not. I will update the file for you by adding a black and white version. I may have to make some changes to the line widths and clip art as well. (Why didn't I think of that before?) It will be ready soon.

Hi, I just purchased this product and when I printed the rulers, the numbers were cut off., so if I join the rulers together, it will be missing part of the ruler. I would appreciate it if you could resize the slides and resend to me. Thank you so much.

The longest ruler has to be printed on legal sized paper (8.5 x 14). That was probably the one that got cut off. This is the only way to guarantee that it will work. If you print it out on a smaller scale via your printer settings, that can work too but I would prefer that you have it in it's true size so that your students can see the small hours and minutes clearly. I hope you get through.

Thank you for trying my products Kathy. The programs I use are MS Word and Power Point. I have also used Adobe Illustrator for heavy graphics but it is a bit difficult to navigate when you are just stating out. There's also Inkscape, which is a free program you can Google and download but I haven't gotten around to learn how to use it so I cannot give feedback on it as yet. For this school term, I have been busier than ever so I haven't started any projects for a while but whenever I get the chance I think I'll be purchasing clip art rather than making it. It all comes down to time availability for me. I hope that you get through, I wish you all the best with it. Try different things until you find one that's right for you.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it. I can work on that from next week for you. (Right now I'm correcting test papers and getting report books ready). However, there is one problem, the file, as it is, cannot hold anymore heavy graphics because it will exceed the upload limit. I know this because it is a recent upload and it actually had additional pages of bigger cards for the third item. And I had to take those out for it to upload. So Should I do it as a separate poster set? What do you think?

Nyla's Crafty Teaching  (TpT Seller)
It must be an Adobe problem. You may want to try updating your Adobe Reader. Here is what TpT tells us to do: First, if the PDF you purchased is blurry and showing black smudges, you need to upgrade your ADOBE READER is all. If you are on a Mac and still having the same issue, it's absolutely because you are still opening it with PREVIEW and not ADOBE READER. To solve, when you go to open the file, you need to actively select to open it with Adobe Reader, because the Mac will automatically open it with Preview if you don't say otherwise. So in your Finder Window, highlight the file and then click on the tool in the top of the Finder Window that looks like a sprocket or something, then choose ‘Open With’ and then ‘Other,’ then select Adobe Reader. Let us know it's solved with a follow up message so we know you're all set.
If the file you purchased is not opening for you at all, it's likely because you do not have the right application to open it! For example, to open ZIP FILES on a PC, you need something like WINZIP (http://www.winzip.com/trialpay.htm) to open it. If you have the old version of Microsoft Office but purchased a DOCX file or a PPTX file, you just need to download and install the converter here (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=3). If you don't recognize the file extension on the file you purchased, do a Google search for "How to open a .notebook file" for example.
You can try the FAQ as well.

If none of this works, you can email me at gilliannyla(at)gmail(dot)com and I'll email it to you directly.

I was wanting to put the clip art into a word document so that my students can cut them out to use as manipulatives to help with addition/subtraction with regrouping. I loved the color choices to make it easier for them to see the differences in place values. When I click on one of them they open in a Windows Live Gallery pop-up and won't let me copy to paste in document. How would you suggest I get them into a word document? I needed them to be able to cut multiple copies to create the math problems and be able to physically move them when solving to see the regrouping process. Thanks for any help so that I can use the beautiful images to help my students. It is Friday, September 6th, I was hoping to create over the weekend and have them ready for students to cut on Monday. Hi Karen, thank you for contacting me. To insert them into Word, right-click on the image icon and select 'Open with', then a drop-down menu will appear, choose 'Microsoft Office 2010'. If that option is not there, choose 'Paint'. In Microsoft Office 2010 click on 'edit', then 'copy'. In paint, click on 'select', select the object by dragging a box around it, then click on 'edit', then 'copy'. The final part would be to go into Word, then click on 'edit', then 'paste'. Then the object would appear there on the page.
That's one method.
An easier way is to start from Word, click on 'Insert', then click on 'picture', then choose the file from wherever it is stored on your computer like maybe your 'Downloads' folder. Open the file, choose the image, then select either 'open' or 'insert', then the image will open up in your Word Doc. I hope you get through with this. :)

If everything checks out, you can send the amount at gillianphillips456{at}live{dot}com because they would need my paypal email address and in the details of that transaction, write the name of the product/s that you are buying along with your email address and I will email them to you within 24 hours. I have good news! When you print the pdf, there is a check box that prompts you to let it 'fit to scale'. Do not check this box. Some printers make this adjustment automatically which put the scale slightly off because you would really want the scale to print at 100%. Always select 'Actual size' when printing. I can relate to what you went through because the same thing happened to me the first time that I printed it out. Then I realised that I just had to change the print settings so do not worry! I included an extra print guide sheet and I added a page with rulers on it that can be printed and photocopied so that each child can have one. These printable rulers will print at the same scale that the cards do, so if the scale is still off for you, the printable rulers would be what your students can use to complete the measuring activities. Your updated file is ready! Just click on the 'My Purchases' tab to re-download it.

I think that these are an awesome idea, however, they are not printing to scale. I printed them and then measured them with a ruler and they are off. What do you suggest I do?

I fixed them and I also did the following:
The entire file is now in one Pdf document and no longer a zipped file.
In the third document, I removed the small cards but kept the larger cards. I did this to reduce the file size so that I could upload it as a pdf. (Everyone seems to prefer the larger cards for that activity anyway). - Nyla.

Hi Cara, I used an html code generated by photobucket. Luckily for me, at the time that I did it, it used to work. Now, when I insert the code, nothing shows, only blank line space. TpT probably changed their coding algorithms or something. But you can still try.

I can't guarantee that it will work but I hope it helps. I learned this and other useful information by being a TBTS - Teaching Blog Traffic School (by Charity Preston from the Organized Classroom Blog) - member. This is a link to it in case you would like to check it out: http://ow.ly/imBky

Is this part of the 3rd grade common core?

I researched the criteria for the third grade common core and this is what I found:

1. Reason with shapes and their attributes.
2. Understand that shapes in different categories (e.g., rhombuses, rectangles, and others) may share attributes (e.g., having four sides), and that the shared attributes can define a larger category (e.g., quadrilaterals). Recognize rhombuses, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals, and draw examples of quadrilaterals that do not belong to any of these subcategories.
3. Partition shapes into parts with equal areas. Express the area of each part as a unit fraction of the whole. For example, partition a shape into 4 parts with equal area, and describe the area of each part as 1/4 of the area of the shape.

It seems that it only deals with 2D shapes. I have a unit for #2 above, it is found here:

Might it be possible to provide a blank page to add other pairs, e.g., none-nun, one-won, earn-urn, blew-blue, made-maid, knot-not, ring-wring, close-clothes, find-fined, bite-byte, carat-carrot, brake-break, way-weigh, choral-coral, wood-would, weave-we've, read-reed, read-red, etc.? Thanks for your extra effort. Actually was unaware that either cheeses or sponges have pores. Just wondering whether your students know this - or if that is part of the learning process. Certainly didn't mean for you to buy other clipart products, etc.

Okay then (smile). Well not every student would have the same experiences. They learn from each other, pick up new information through questioning, discussion or their own research. One of the favorite moments is seeing them learn these extra bits of information because children are so curious, they want to know everything. So for most, it would be part of the learning process.

The image of the cheese used was the only one available (in cheeses). Purchasing a food set from a graphics provider would have raised the price of this product significantly. I have to think about the pricing as well. Originally, I didn't want to use cheese because of the same reason you mentioned - not every cheese would have pores (at least not visible to the eye). Before, I could not find any clip art image of a sponge for commercial use but I fell in love with the cheese! Anyway, I'm putting in a sponge there for you now. I really hope that it is what you would prefer.

So in your Finder Window, highlight the file and then click on the tool in the top of the Finder Window that looks like a sprocket or something, then choose Open With and then Other and then select Adobe Reader.

Thank you for the input Lisa. I bought the clock faces from a very reputable clip art provider and I was pleased with the layout of most of the clock faces. But the six-thirty clock was an oversight on her part. I won't be able to edit the clock images but I would have to look for a another source of clock clip art that is more precise. Thank you.

I was looking over the thumbnails and noticed one problem said "a kitchen wall....how many tiles are needed to tile the kitchen floor" and " a studio wall....how many tiles are needed to tile the bedroom wall." This change of wording will confuse my students. Will I be able to change the inconsistent wording if I purchase it?

It is not a confusion. Those are all different examples with a similar theme which is the laying of tiles. (Not the same question or part of the same question.) One example is the large tiles for the kitchen floor, another is small tiles for a studio wall, and there's one for a bedroom wall. They are illustrated (that should help). However, it is a PDF file so you won't be able to change it. What you can do is send me your email via this Q&A tab and I will send you it in Word format (if you purchase it), no problem.

Vocabulary Acquisition and Use:
Determine the meaning of the new word formed when a known affix is added to a known word (e.g., agree/disagree, heat/preheat).

This product teaches the meanings of different prefixes which will help students to figure out the meaning of any word that these prefixes are attached to. As long as they know the meaning of the root word and the meaning of the prefix, then they can deduce the meaning of the new word formed.

Hi Lilly92, it is more enjoyable to play it with less students and with an extra copy of the card set. Every card has at least one match, some have more than one matches, but by adding more copies, you will have an easier way of finding matches. I will work on a key over the Christmas holidays and will notify all of my customers via Facebook and TpT of its completion. Thanks - Nyla.
