I was interested in purchasing your products during your sale, but it, didn't show your sale price. I went ahead and put them in my cart, but it still did not show the sale price. I checked other sellers that had items for sale, and theirs did show the little red tag with the sale price by them. When will you be having another 20 percent sale so I can try again?

It's probably because my whole store isn't on sale. I have only been putting select items on sale and rotating out. It shows the sale icon at the top, but you have to scan (or read my blog) to know what is on sale that particular day. There's not a really streamlined way to do this yet on TpT, but hopefully the process will become more simplified in time. :) Sorry for the confusion.

Hello One Extra Degree,
I attended the TpT conference in Las Vegas and was torn between your workshop and another. I unfortunately did not hear your excellent presentation but was wondering if you knew if TpT was going to stream those on-line so we can benefit from your knowledge? I have many questions and feel the area of copyright is very confusing to me. For instance I have used many pictures in my PowerPoint slides that say "may be licensed under creative commons" but I don't understand what that means or how I find out if I am able to use the picture(s). Any help you could give me in this area would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Amanda, I am planning to purchase this, but I was wondering if there are directions for these activities included. When looking at the preview, I only saw implementation guidelines on the Vocab Timeline. I didn't know if that's just because it was a preview, or if these are simple enough we should be able to figure them out on our own. Thanks so much! :)

If an activity is not self-explanatory, it contains directions. :) I didn't put all of the directions in the preview, but they do exist for any activities that I felt necessitated more explicit directions.

Hi Amanda, so I am looking into buying this pack, but I wanted to know if you think it would be appropriate for my class room. I teach fourth grade and I focus heavily on greek and latin root words. Do you feel like this would be appropriate for those two things? Thanks, Alley

Hi, Alley! It contains a lot of ideas/lessons that can be used with any list of vocabulary words. You could tailor it to address a lot of words with Greek and Latin roots. That's what I do with my fourth grade group. I use the same templates for prefix/suffix work with my third graders. I also include some self-reflection, critical thinking, and discussion pieces because I believe that it all enhances vocabulary expansion. I know I am biased, but I use this with my kids all of the time, and I love the lessons. :) So do they!

I bought the Word Warriors Greek/Latin root, and love it! I would love to type other roots on the blank "word wall" cards. Is there a way that I can do that? Also, I wanted to let you know that many of the black lines on the bottom word wall cards do no show up or print. For example, page 55 is fine but page 57 the bottom card is missing black outline, and so on. I appreciate your response.

Greetings,

My name is Michael Slagell and I teach Middle School social studies. For economics your Lemonade Economics game looks great. However, I need a game for multiple users. Does the one-time purchase allow multiple users/players, or would I have to buy a game for each student I have? If so, that would be to expensive for me. Also, the students have tablets and would have to be able to download the game themselves. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

We don't grade homework, so I use it to make sure my kids are reading books at their levels at home. Mostly. We use AR, and as much as I could go on a rant about how much it's not my favorite thing in the world, it's pushed pretty hard at our grade level by my admin. I use them to make sure that kids are applying skills that are taught in class with books they can take quizzes on to hit their AR goals easily. I use them more as formative assessments, and I write notes back to my kids with coaching points and celebrations. If I were to grade it... I would most likely make each box worth two points (for the answer and the evidence)... and grade each one that is completed.

I created Affix Avengers to use with my third graders and Word Warriors to use with my fourth graders, but I know not everyone has their kids two years. I am thinking if I were in your position, I might alternate the lists... do Week 1 of Affix Avengers and Week 2 of Word Warriors for example. Any patterns you don't hit with the lists could be addressed other ways or by using the additional materials in the file. I also included editable word lists in the file... if you really wanted to you could create a half and half list each week using half of the words from each program... and type them into the file. Just a few ideas... I'm not sure what you think will work best for you though! Good luck!

It covers more of the craft of poetry... and breaks some of the elements down to practice them. I have plans to add more components like allusions, connotation/denotation over the summer. If you decide to purchase, those elements will be available when I update it. I want to include more sophisticated elements of poetry because my students are ready for the next step next year, and I am keeping my group. If you are looking for something to review the elements of poetry, it will probably work well for you. If you are looking for something to teach the different forms of poetry, that's not what this is. :)

I'm so sorry to bug you but I just downloaded the revised product and the changes were not there. Homo still says "different" and sub- and with- weren't added. Thank you for helping me.

Any chance I can get a copy of the template in a workable format and not a pdf? especially the page put by them - w/ their name, "on" button, pic, etc? We need to create more females- and would like the unit to all look alike?

Hi! I just added thirty-two new people. Most of them are females. :) I hope that helps! You can download the new copy on your downloads page.

Buyer re: Affix Avengers: Spelling with Prefixes & Suffixes!
I'm preparing this for my word wall and noticed that although with- and sub- are on the spelling lists there aren't word wall cards for them. I also discovered that the card for homo- has a typo. The card says different but the prefix means same. Since this document wasn't editable, would it be possible to get a revised document with the corrections? Thanks in advance - I'm really impressed with the resource and can't wait to put it into use in my classroom.

Buyer re: Lemonade Economics: Business for Kiddos
Hello. Do you have the unit plan you followed for this? My team would love to use it, but need a layout of the progression.

Hi! I really don't have anything written out that I follow every single year as a rule. I use stories from our third grade Reading Street series because they address economics in the first unit, then I work in activities from my Economics 101 pack. Towards the end of the unit, we do the lemonade economics unit. Are you referring to the progression of the lemonade unit itself?

Buyer re: Teach Me and I Remember: Task Boards for 3rd Grade CCSS Reading Standards
I am not sure what you mean by "using the back of one board". Can you clarify this for me? Also, I am assuming that you do this at the end of a group of lessons about the standard. You give them 90 minutes to accomplish this task according to the teaching duration listed. Is that accurate?

The "board" is the task board....the menu of activities that I created for each standard. I run the standard-based board off, and then I copy it double-sided with the "Lesson Planning Sheet" on the back so that I can have the kids write more specific details about what to include. It helps me differentiate more easily that way so not every group has to do the exact same thing, and I don't have to muddle through umpteen million menus to find the right one. :) I hope that makes sense. We do typically spend about an hour on this depending on the skill...start to finish. Sometimes I give them less time... sometimes I give them more time. I only do this kind of a lesson once I have drilled a particular skill and I feel confident that students can handle it. Because they have a strong understanding of how to do this, I give them about twenty or twenty-five minutes to put their presentations together. After that, we reconvene and each group of partners shares their lessons. We give them feedback about what we liked and my students share out what helped them solidify their learning. You could certainly chunk it out, simplify it, or do whatever you need to do to make this work for you. :) With my population of students, I have found that this is time well-spent, and they have demonstrated great mastery. I hope that helped clarify some of your questions.

Does this have a bibliography page? My students are expected to cite three or more resources in their paper. Trying to decide between this and another product. Thanks so much!

I did include a reference page where my students can list sources. It's nothing overly complicated though. They just list their sources on the lines. In the future, I may make it look a little more sophisticated. I just bought more clip art to expand the list of famous Americans, so I plan on tweaking a few of the pages to improve the file even more once I add those people to the mix. :)

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I currently teach third and fourth grade kiddos, and I enjoy every second of it! Over the past eight years, I have absolutely fallen in LOVE with my job! I am extremely passionate about teaching and creating, and I enjoy being able to share that passion with others!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that teaching stretches far beyond the content areas. First and foremost, I work on establishing strong relationships with my students based on trust, mutual respect, and empathy. I realize that I am educating little people, and that even little people have problems that occasionally distract them from learning. I embrace this, and strive to meet their emotional and academic needs while at school. Sometimes we all need a pat on the back or a supportive smile to get us through the day. Beyond that, I take a child-centered approach to learning. I feel that if I say or do too much I am, in fact, inhibiting the students’ learning. My instruction is very much interactive, hands-on, authentic, and tailored to meet each individual student's needs as much as possible. I want the students to think intently and critically to find solutions, reflect on their learning, and gain independence. My role is to facilitate this learning and encourage them along the way. I provide the opportunities and then support as they complete assignments to ensure that every child feels a level of success and confidence in my classroom.
