I am so glad they liked working on the brochures. My 4th and 5th graders liked this activity because they felt like they were 'helping' out the younger students. You are going to love this one! Take a large paperclip and put the end most open around the dot of the spinner, then put the sharpened end of the pencil on the dot. Flick the paperclip with your finger while holding the pencil down. The paperclip will spin around just like one of the little arrows. I like the paperclip and pencil better because it spins faster and doesn't get stick the way the paper arrows stick. Try it and let me know how it goes! Pam

I did that in a program called InDesign which is used by printshops. I am so sorry it can't be edited with Word. The only thing that you can do is to replace the middle page (2 half pages) with the items you want to include. Some teachers have put an entire worksheet type page and copied it on a copier. Also, if you type up something in word on landscape you can just insert it since it is the middle of the study guide. Hope this works for you. Pam

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I live and teach at the coast. I am teaching 4th and 5th grade Academically Gifted students Reading/Social Studies and Math. I have been in training for the Common Core for three years now. I am embracing the Common Core Curriculum and try new ways to integrate Arts into my subjects. I started working in the school system in 1999. I have taught computers, K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. I am always the oldest one around and enjoy helping other teachers. Most of my teaching is tried and true, but I always welcome new and exciting ways to get students involved in their learning.
MY TEACHING STYLE
I do whatever it takes for students to learn. I like manipulatives and color. I can't always print in color so I try to use bright cardstock whenever I can. I also will print on white cardstock and use sharpies to add color before I laminate. Really makes things stand out! I do not like to waste paper and copies are limited so I try and make everything I use count! I write all my lesson plans so they are interactive with whatever resource I am using. This makes the lesson flow easier with the smartboard, internet, and powerpoints.
