I started working in the school system in 1999. I have taught computers, K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. I am always the oldest one around and enjoy helping other teachers. Most of my teaching is tried and true, but I always welcome new and exciting ways to get students involved in their learning. Update! I have moved to the coast and am enjoying teaching 4th and 5th grade AIG students Reading and Math. I am embracing the Common Core Curriculum and try new ways to integrate my subjects.
I do whatever it takes for students to learn. I like manipulatives and color. I can't always print in color so I try to use bright cardstock whenever I can. I also will print on white cardstock and use sharpies to add color before I laminate. Really makes things stand out! I do not like to waste paper and copies are limited so I try and make everything I use count! I write all my lesson plans so they are interactive with whatever resource I am using. This makes the lesson flow easier with the smartboard, internet, and powerpoints.
I have been Teacher of the Year and work continuously to help other teachers.
I plan to get my Masters of Education in 2012.
I am a mom of three boys and have two grandsons. I love to knit and watch birds. I am so thankful for what I have been given and want to give back as much as possible by helping and nurturing every child that crosses my path.
