Yes, this is a great tool for flex groups. Easy to follow and helps keep you focused on each component of the group. I tend to lose track of time!!! This helps to keep me on track and ensure I get it all in. Please let me know how it works for you. :)

You will see how simple it is to use and fun for the kids. Then, after you use it, move it to a Practice Station and they can work on it independently! You can use a copy of it as a cut and paste for documentation of mastery. I have so many things like this, but have little time to post. Hopefully, you will watch for other things as I find time to post! Enjoy your fishing time! :)

You are welcome. Yes, I have the teachers I work with to post this. They place post its on with student names on the skill where they are working. It gives the teacher (and subs) a great visual to use for quick reviews during transitions, etc. It's great to place by your small group table as well. The kids love to move their post it when they have mastered a skill and move on to another. I'm know you'll use it all the time! Thanks, Pamela

The Planning for Explicit Small Guided Rdg Groups has several things to think about when planning for your groups. The Flip book is an actual guide to what your small group instructional components are during your 30 minute lesson. It's a framework. It will tell 5 mins. spent on rereading, 5 mins. on Letter/Word Work, etc. Then, each of those 5 mins. components will have listed what you should focus on during that 5 mins. One day, will be Day A Lessons, the next day you will do Day B lessons, each are focused on guiding your students through all of the most beneficial components of an explicit guided reading lesson to ensure everything is included. Sometimes I tend to get too involved in a particular component, for example my vocabulary building during the pre reading time. This flip guide helps me and my students stay focused on what we need to get accomplished during each session. They get used to what you do as a routine and they can flip my guide and tell me its time to go on!!! I find it extremely useful to have right on my table to keep me on track as far as time and for my focus, which makes my groups so much more explicit. I think you will find it very useful. I sure do.

There are 17 pages total. It goes through all lessons for the A days and B days. It is great to use for your regular small reading groups, supplemental groups and especially intervention groups. If there's a classroom para, this flip book is perfect to give to them. It gives the instructional layout for how an explicit plan should flow. I use it with my intervention groups. I have also shared it with interns who are using it as well and find it extremely helpful. I placed mine on rings and laminated. It's a great tool to keep you on track and make sure all important components are included. Let me know if you use it and how you like it. :)

I believe in getting students engaged and interested in what they are about to learn. I believe in the I do, We do, You do model of instructional delivery. Students need to feel respected by you and cared for (genuine caring) and they will make the effort to please you by doing their best to reach their fullest potential.
HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT
I was nominated and named Elementary Social Studies Teacher of the Year. I was nominated by a student for the Great Expectations Teacher Award and received this honor. I was nominated for Disney's Highest Educator's Honor Award. I've been trained in the Literacy First Process of teaching reading and worked as a Literacy Resource Specialist for 5 years. Then, NCLB was introduced and I received even more intentional training and became a Reading First Coach to assist other teachers in the field of reading. I can serve in any capacity as a Reading/Writing Consultant and Teacher Trainer.
