I have been teaching middle school Science in Illinois since 2008 and I *love* it! I have taught inclusion classes, regular education classes, and advanced science classes. I have taught eighth grade students for the last four years and will be teaching seventh grade students this upcoming year!
I am a student-centered teacher with a sense of humor. I love incorporating current events within lessons and encourage questioning and active thinking about concepts being taught.
My favorite awards come from my students--a note to say thank you, getting a high-five from a kid after they aced a test or a test retake, a visit from a student I taught years ago--those are my honors. They are definitely the best kind. :)
I received my teaching certification and bachelor's degree after spending seven years in the horticultural field. Although my degree is in Biology, my background includes a wide variety of science courses ranging from chemistry, physics, and geology to astronomy, ecology, and zoology.
I am a single Mom with two beautiful children of my own. My daughter will be in sixth grade this year and my son will be in fourth grade.
