This issue comes up with these cards every so often. The issue is the font I used in the banner. Someday when I have time, I will revise them to get rid of the font. For now, try this:

Try downloading and installing the Tatania font. It is free. I got it from this site:

Yeah, they are. It has to do with the wording for those who are using and not using Common Core. It turned out to be too confusing for buyers, so I combined them into one product. I know this is not really the place for this. But I am going to risk getting into trouble and o it anyway... April is child abuse awareness month. As a teacher, I've had to report suspected child abuse. But it never hit as close to home as it did this month when I found out that my cousin's daughter was assaulted by a family member we all liked and trusted. I am trying to raise $400.00 to give to Safe Haven in Martinsburg, WV which is a shelter and advocacy center for abused children. I can create a playground with used tires for that. I am donating all the money I make this month to Safe Haven. I was hoping that you might mention this on your blog so that I can get more sales. I will post a copy of my sales and a copy of my donation receipt. THank you, Heather Ricehttp://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Heather-Rice-The-Bag-Lady///email-heathertonwv@hotmail.com

I bought the author's purpose cards, inference cards, main idea cards, and drawing conclusions cards. I have a slight problem. I wanted to make on of my bulletin boards an anchor board with the definition of the skills on it, but the drawing conclusions and main idea cards do not have a definition page like author's purpose and inferences do? The inference one gives a nice example and definition about Anna collecting shells and what an inference is, and author's purpose has a nice graphic. I wonder if you have the two I am missing?

Hi Rachel,
I have a lot of your task cards and really love them, but every now and then, I find a typo (it happens to me also). Will you be putting up an update for your theme cards? I noticed another person had already contacted you. I have been recently using your Figural Language worksheets....on the 1st student page, shouldn't #7 read" Mario's fingers WERE like icicles."? On the What are Metaphors? page, #2 "feeling blue" seems much more of an idiom than a straight metaphor.(I know there is crossover, but for an introductory page, it should be clearer. On Simile or Metaphor, #18 is confusing....maybe, "the cat's fur was back as coal". If you do update this packet, it would be SO helpful to have a TOC and page numbers.....I use this with my Smartboard, and it would be nice to just note a page number in my plans......thanks so much for your products!

Hi Rachel,
I'm not sure if you're aware, but your Theme task cards have several errors. I'd be happy to let you know where they all are, but I was hoping to get an edited version when you make the corrections. I know we're all busy educators, but when fellow teachers are using their own money to purchase materials to use in their classrooms, it's pretty important for them to be error-free. Today my fourth graders were finding the errors, which on the one hand is a great real-life connection, but on the other hand took learning time away from the intended objective. If you're ever looking for help, I'd be happy to help you proofread.

Hi Rachel - The task cards are great! I believe there are a couple of errors on the "Following Directions 3-5." Card 20 should say "pentagon" not "hexagon" and card 29 says the "4th shape down on the far left." That is technically the cloud, which goes with question 6. Some of my students were confused by that because they already wrote in the cloud. It might be more clear to them if it said, "5th shape down."

Thanks!

Kyle A. re: Balance the Equation Task Cards Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication & Division
Hello Rachel. The following message was sent via Facebook however I did not hear back. Perhaps it was lost ...

Good Morning, Rachel.

Recently, while using another of your set of task cards, my 3rd graders and I discovered yet another error.

In the set Balance the Equation Task Cards Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, & Division (within 100) card #32 is written as:

__ divided by 10 = 93 + 83. Perhaps you meant 93 + 7? Perhaps 17 + 83? Either way the card does not fit the rule for "within 100". Perhaps whomever is doing your proofreading can / should correct this error ASAP.

While I have / will continue to use your products, this is now the 2nd set I've found which unfortunately contain errors.

Sincerely,

Kyle M. Adams

Hello Kyle,

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. It has been a really busy week. In any case I fixed the mistake. All I had to do was change the division sign to a minus sign. I wish I or my proofreader had caught it before I uploaded it the first time, but I can see how it could be missed.

Hi Ruthanne,

The way the Main Idea cards work is that the answers for both sets are the same (for set one, the paragraphs have a topic sentence, making them easier while set two does not, which makes them more challenging). Since the answers are the same for both sets, only one set of QR codes is needed.

A Different Way of Thinking
Hi Rachel,
First of all, I love your products! I've bought several of your task card packets! This is where the problem arises. I bought your Superbowl Sunday special back in February, but I managed to forget that when I was shopping through your store yesterday. I accidentally re-bought both the Fact and Opinion Task Card set and the Multi-Step Word Problems for Grades 3-4 even though I had gotten them as part of the Superbowl Sunday bundle. Is there anyway to return or "exchange" for a different task card pack of the same price? Please let me know if you can help!

Thanks!

-your TpT user name

-URLs for two sets of equal or lesser value than the ones you purchased.

I'll send them to you directly!

Rachel,
I have almost all of your task cards. I was wondering if you would consider making a set for author's purpose including describe. I have your set with persuade, inform, and entertain. In 6th grade we also include describe
Thank you for your consideration.

I had someone else request that too and so I ran it by my FB followers. There wasn't much interest in adding Describe, most of them are just using the standard PIE, so probably won't. But I do appreciate the suggestion!

I saw a dictionary skills 4 page packet on tuesday that was free. I was not able to print it out at the time. I can't find it anymore. Do you still have this?

I printed the apostrophe task cards out and put them in my center, without looking closely. I had students coming up to me telling me that many were missing the apostrophe. Oops! Not sure if it was the font or what?

Hmmm. That set has been out for over a year and this is the first I have heard of anything like this. I am guessing it has something to do with the font. First, make sure you have the most recent version of adobe reader. If that doesn't fix it, feel free to email me at reallyrachel@gmail.com with a URL for a different set from my store and I will send it along as compensation.

Would task cards work for early finishers? I need something for early finishers to do at their desks.

Totally! If you put the cards and answer sheets into a pocket folder (with the answer key glued to the back if you want them to self-check), they will work perfectly as seat work for early finishers. Many teachers use them for exactly that.

Rachel,
I played Guess My Grid with my students last year, and they loved it. I am unable to find my copy, and cannot find it on TpT. Is there any way you would be able to email me the file?

Thanks so much!

Practice Makes Perfect  (TpT Seller) re: Long E Task Cards: 36 cards to practice ee, ea, and ie
There is small typo on the answer sheet. There is no number 4 and two number 5's. Not a biggie. We just scratched out the first 5 and made it a 4, but I thought you'd like to know.

Thanks! It is totally on my to-do list to get back on a PC and make a bunch of minor corrections. I am on a Mac now and they don't play well together.

Hi, Lynette!

I teach 8 students in a 2-5 classroom and LOVE your task cards. Do you offer multiple grade level sets that won't break my bank?

Hi Kim,

I don't do a lot of that since most teachers just teach one grade level, but I do try to build in differentiation into as much as I can. And I do have some bundles, which you can find here:

You can also save a bunch by shopping the sale this Thursday and Friday. My store will be 20% off.

This is a new standard for second grade and I wondered if these would be too challenge for my second graders?

Wow, second seems awfully early for having to deal with theme...so much inference! I think these would be too difficult for independent work, but they might serve as a good introduction if you were to do one card at a time as a class or in a small group.

I saw that the tic-tac-toe boards don't come with rubrics or suggestions for grading, but how have you graded them in your class?

I had a 1, 2, 3, system, with 1 being the best and I usually added a comment or two. I tended to keep these ones low key as they are not huge projects. I hope that helps. When I update the product I will look into adding a rubric!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Most of my teaching experience is with gifted and talented students in grades 2-4, though I have worked with children of all ages in general education classrooms as well. A few years ago I stopped teaching in order to write nonfiction children's books full time. Gradually over the last couple of years, my career has switched from writing to creating teaching materials here on Teacher Pay Teacher. I love creating teaching products (most recently task cards) and feel just as passionate about my work now as I did when I was teaching. I also love knowing that my products help thousands of teachers and reach tens of thousands of students.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My goal is to create high-quality products that are easy to use and include some element or creative or critical thinking. Many of my products are also aligned to Common Core Standards.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am currently a Top Ten seller on TpT, both for all time as well as in the weekly lists. I am the all time number one seller for grades 3-5. In addition, I have written over 100 nonfiction books for children for a variety of publishers as well as several teacher resource books.
