Hi Rachel,

I came here looking for some help with the Facebook link and then decided to try my PC verses my mac and iPhone that I had been trying with no luck and BINGO! So, I just wanted to let you know that it is possible that some folks that are having an issue using the link you shared last week are using an apple product!

Thanks again for a wonderful session. It was great to meet you and hear all your words of wisdom! You inspire and motivate me!!

Hello, thank you very much for providing your free measurement task cards.
Could I strongly suggest using the metric system? The whole world, even the US, uses the metric system. Think 2 liter soda bottles. Also, all science is conducted in the metric system. Also, most manufacturers use the metric system (e.g., car manufacturers).
I know some students are not fluent in metric ... yet. I suggest transitioning to metric by using the Imperial system as you did and adding metric equivalent in parentheses. For example, 1 inch (3.54 cm), 68 F (20 C).
As a science teacher, I love your products. So, please consider my strong suggestion.
Thanks!

I purchased your Prediction task cards. After laminating them, I was sitting down to cut them out. I've found errors on 4 cards. On #12, the phrase reads "...when he pencil tip breaks."(should be his) On card #16 it says "Mandy is laying in the sun..." (should be lying). On card #19 there are 2 errors. The word "a" is missing in the first line, and the question asks "What Jake do?" Finally, on card #22 there is a capital letter in the middle of a sentence (2nd last line of the paragraph).
I love your task cards, and have bought quite a few sets of them. It makes sense to me that you'd want to know about typos so you can correct them.
Have a great day! Ann Scott

Hi Elizabeth,

All of my bundles can be found here:

http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Rachel-Lynette/Category/Task-Card-Bundles

If you download the free preview, it will tell you exactly what is included. There are also links to the product pages for each of the sets, but you have to actually download the preview (not just view it in the preview mode) for the links to work. I am pretty sure that I have not included any of the sets in more than one bundle, so you should be okay buying several bundles without getting repeating sets.

Hope that helps,

Rachel,
I own about 50 sets of task cards, many of which are your's! I began by storing them in zip lock bags and writing the skill on the baggie. (ex. 36 synonym, antonym, homophone cards). As my collection continues to grow, how do you or your followers store them for easy access? Do you catalogue them by standards? Do you list them by skill? Do you keep them in the same file folder as the other WS and activities for that skill? Thank you!

Is the content of the cards fairly "American", such as history, famous people, locations, etc.? Or is it quite general. I'm a Canadian teacher and would love to try these if they are not too much on American history etc.

I just took a look at that set and for the most part, they are pretty general - different places around the world, animals, etc. I think you could use most and possibly all of them. But, the spelling is all the Americanized versions, including the word "summarize," so that is something to be aware of.

Hi Rachel,

There is a mistake on card #23 (purple in color) of your Talk Text task card from your "Close Reading Toolkit". I wrote you before but you misunderstood my question. Please read card #23 again. You have accidently written the words "add to add to" TWICE, not once on this card. Also, the number on the card is wrong. It says it is #23; however, it should be #29. Thank you for fixing part of the problem, but there is still a typo on your Close Reading Toolkit "Talk Text" cards. There is a typo on card #23 in purple (should be labeled card #29) which says, "I can add to add to what _________ was saying. _________." Can this be fixed as well? You need to relabel the number to #29 AND fix the grammar. I included this in my other email, but you must have only seen the part about the other misnumbered purple pages. Thanks.

I understand what you are saying, BUT please read your card again. You have accidently written "add to add to" twice, not once. Also, the number on the card is wrong. I was wondering if that would be confusing. My intention was that the second blank would be for the student to then add his or her own contribution. For example:

"I can add to what Jake was saying. Not only is Marty struggling with honestly, but he is also struggling with his own feelings about Shiloh and Judd."

Maybe I will sub it out if I hear more complaints.

Would it be possible to correct the numbers on page 21 to numbers 26-30 and redownload before I print them on cardstock and laminate? Thanks.

I will be teaching 2nd grade for the first time next year. Would the passages in this toolkit be appropriate for 2nd graders?

There are no passages in the toolkit. The toolkit is a collection of resources that you can use with your own selections. Many (but probably not all) would work well with second graders.

Hi! I love this product and my kids do too. Just wondering, do you happen to have an answer sheet for each card(all the possible words)? Thanks!

Sorry for the delayed response...I answered this a few days ago and it didn't seem to go through.

Anyway, I considered it, but did not end up including one because there are a lot of words for each set of letters and many or not words that the average elementary student would be familiar with. You can easily generate answer keys yourself by entering the 7 letters into a site like this one:

Hi Rachel,
I am a 3rd grade teacher, and I am wondering, is 3rd grade primary or upper elementary? This is the first time with the process of close reading, so I am thinking start with primary to make sure they grasp the concept.
Thanks!
~Allison :)

In my world, K-3 is primary and 4-6 is upper elementary, but it is really kind of subjective and third falls on that line. I think you could go either way depending on the abilities of your students.

The punch cards for common core standards look great. Do you be chance have 7th or 8th grade math ones? Love the idea but need those grades and just math.

So, sorry, but I didn't go up that high and unfortunately, they did not turn out to be very good sellers, so I am not planning on making any more of them.

FYI - when I clicked on the link to view your 'Classroom Cooking Projects - Yummy Single-Serving Recipes in Pictures' from this download it just took me to the TpT home page. I loved the single serve ice cream idea so much I wanted to see what else you had!!

Hi Rachel,
I tried to download the Titania font so that I could view the idioms, but I am unable to that. For some reason it says that font is not compatible with my Mac. Am I the only one with this problem?

You are not the only one and I don't have a fix for you. You can either ask TpT for a refund (I cannot issue those) or you can pick out products from my store of equal value to the cards with that font and I will send them to you directly as compensation. My email is reallyrachel@gmail.com. So sorry this could not get resolved properly.

Hi Rachel,
I downloaded your idiom task cards. I get a great copy, except for the idiom is garbled on all all of them. It looks like it is blocked out. Have any others had this problem?

This issue comes up with these cards every so often. The issue is the font I used in the banner. Someday when I have time, I will revise them to get rid of the font. For now, try this:

Try downloading and installing the Tatania font. It is free. I got it from this site:

If that doesn't work, please write again so we can get this straightened out!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Most of my teaching experience is with gifted and talented students in grades 2-5 though I have worked with children of all ages in general education classrooms as well. A few years ago I stopped teaching in order to write nonfiction children's books full time. Gradually over the next few years, my career changed from writing to creating teaching materials here on Teacher Pay Teacher. I love creating teaching products (most recently task cards) and feel just as passionate about my work now as I did when I was teaching. I also love knowing that my products help thousands of teachers and reach tens of thousands of students.

MY TEACHING STYLE

One of my most important mentors said that we should give students "Freedom within structure." I took that concept to heart and it has resulted in a motivating, challenging, and highly effective leaning environment. I think kids should love coming to school. That is how I taught when I was in the classroom and that is what I keep in mind when I create teaching resources for TpT. My goal is to create high-quality products that are easy to use and include some element or creative or critical thinking. Many of my products are also aligned to Common Core Standards.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am currently a Top Ten seller on TpT, both for all time as well as in the weekly lists. I am the all time number one seller for grades 3-5. In addition, I have written over 100 nonfiction books for children for a variety of publishers as well as several teacher resource books.
