Hello! My name is McKenzie Robinson and I am a special education teacher at East Midvale Elementary in Midvale, Utah. This past year, I spearheaded a project at our school to provide parents with resources to assist their children at home with academics and ran across your wonderfully designed materials!

Our school population comes from low-socioeconomic families of multiple ethnicities and nationalities that are highly transient. Our school was motivated to empower parents to work with their children on academic skills at home. However, when we encouraged parents to work with students at home, we were often met with the question, “How?” Many parents would love to assist their students but lack the knowledge of how to do so other than trying to complete homework. Other parents find that helping their students with homework results in conflict and frustration. We wanted to provide parents with a positive way to assist their students in academic skills.

Since developing this project for our school, the word has spread and many others are interested in implementing similar programs and are looking for assistance. I would like to share the resources I found with them.
Would you be willing to let me list your website and resources on this list of activities to share with others? I love your designs and feel they can truly help families around the world.

Please let me know whether or not you give me permission to link your website/blog/activity. I would be happy to share the final list with you as well.

Sorry for the late response. I missed this question. Anyway, the 60 word activity is just one of many in the product. I was inspired to create it by a book of 50 word stories that I read once a long time ago. They were really interesting, and I think it is a good way for kids to really consider their word choice. I added ten words to make it a tiny bit easier.

I purchased this product and think it is great. However, you have A LOT of typo mistakes throughout the whole unit. For example, on the Vary your Vegetables page, at the bottom it mentions grains. For the price I paid I was a little disappointed in the errors. Thank you.

I played around with it and I don't think I can get it to work. When I enlarge it, the pixels get all blurry. I originally created it by manipulating some clip art in paint (which took quite awhile since I redid most of the colors). This particular image was just never meant to be big.

Hi, I bought and downloaded your 'phrase craze' cards today and there seems to be a few problems with a number of the cards - eg. #6 should be 'one in a million', but the card just has a number 1 on it, with a blurred purple box, the same with #7,10,16,22 and quite a few more. On others, there are complete words missing - without them, the puzzles don't make any sense. Could you please fix this??

Try downloading the most recent version of Adobe Reader. That usually does the trick for this kind of issue. If that does not work, downloading to a different computer may. The cards are fine, so there is nothing I can do on my end. If neither solution works, contact me again so we can work out a refund.

Played these with my third graders last week and they did SO good. One thing - my G/T kid noticed that the first number (80,000,000) on Card #24 is missing a zero. I have been looking at several of your projects and have downloaded many of them, THANK YOU! They are awesome and I can't wait to use them in the classroom.

I am currently working in a temp position as a fourth grade teacher and was wondering about one of your products. I was wondering what the Brain Teasers activity looks like? Would it be possible for you to send me one example of them before I purchase? I could not get a good idea of what the product was in the preview.

Hi Dianne,

The Brain Teasers are actually one of my earlier products and to be honest, it is not as polished as my more recent products. However, the problems themselves are solid. Basically, the 56 problems are in two formats. They are laid out in a worksheet form with several problems on the page like the first page in the free preview and then they are all in half-page card format like the second page. I am not sure that sending you a page would do much good because it would just be the same one that is in the preview. I am glad you like my products and I really do appreciate your business!

I sure appreciate all the work you're doing and sharing on this website. I like these grs.1-4 class rules task cards. Could you please make a higher level set? I teach middle school and the activity is perfect to get them talking to each other appropriately, but your current level is too low for me. There are lots of examples of middle/high school rules online. Could you also make something that includes the Boys Town Social Skills? Or Larry Bell's Power Words for testing? Sharing the royalties is an option, too... ;-D

The unit is a Utopia/Dystopia unit that incorporates multiple works of literature, so I am using Panem to Panem, which I love and my students love.

Hi, Rachel,
I was so excited last night when I down-loaded this powerpoint and planned on using it today with my class. I was able to open it last night, but today I haven't been able to get it to load. Do you have any tips? Luckily, I had also bought the cards and was able to use them on the Smartboard. We used mini whiteboards to respond with answer choices. My class loved it.

On the Perimeter Task cards with optional Area, the answer key to the area questions is incorrect. #3 should be 54, #5 should be 37, #15 should be 79, #17 should be 85. The answers on these questions are based on you just multiplying the numbers that are actually on the cards, but you have to break the shapes apart and refigure the lengths of the sides. The kids have to understand that opposite sides are equal and apply that to how the different shapes combine to be that total length. Is it possible to get a new answer key that is correct made?

It looks like it might have to do with the font I used for the banners. Try downloading and installing the Tatania font. It is free. I got it from this site:

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Most of my teaching experience is with gifted and talented students in grades 2-4, though I have worked with children of all ages in general education classrooms as well. A few years ago I stopped teaching in order to write nonfiction children's books full time. Gradually over the last couple of years, my career has switched from writing to creating teaching materials here on Teacher Pay Teacher. I love creating teaching products (most recently task cards) and feel just as passionate about my work now as I did when I was teaching. I also love knowing that my products help thousands of teachers and reach tens of thousands of students.

MY TEACHING STYLE
