TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Most of my teaching experience is with gifted and talented students in grades 2-5 though I have worked with children of all ages in general education classrooms as well. A few years ago I stopped teaching in order to write nonfiction children's books full time. Gradually over the next few years, my career changed from writing to creating teaching materials here on Teacher Pay Teacher. I love creating teaching products (most recently task cards) and feel just as passionate about my work now as I did when I was teaching. I also love knowing that my products help thousands of teachers and reach tens of thousands of students.

MY TEACHING STYLE

One of my most important mentors said that we should give students "Freedom within structure." I took that concept to heart and it has resulted in a motivating, challenging, and highly effective leaning environment. I think kids should love coming to school. That is how I taught when I was in the classroom and that is what I keep in mind when I create teaching resources for TpT. My goal is to create high-quality products that are easy to use and include some element or creative or critical thinking. Many of my products are also aligned to Common Core Standards.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am currently a Top Ten seller on TpT, both for all time as well as in the weekly lists. I am the all time number one seller for grades 3-5. In addition, I have written over 100 nonfiction books for children for a variety of publishers as well as several teacher resource books.
