Is there any possibility that you would change the font for a second version? I have issues with the font...nothing personal...I know it is cute and tons of folks use it. The problem is that I have to work really hard for my at-risk k's to get them to understand the correct usage of uppercase vs. lowercase. I only put things up in my room if it looks pretty close to the real thing. If you don't have time or don't wish to, I understand. I just keep thinking that there have to be others out there who feel as I do, and that might encourage cranky folks like me to buy them :).

I understand and agree with your concerns. This was one of my first documents to TPT and I have since learned of font issues/preferences. I have updated the file but not to update the entire font. You mentioned that there are supplies to use in the interventions. What do those look like? Are those editable? I am used to getting things that are in English then pasting over them with Spanish, but I thought I would check to see if yours are editable for our Spanish words.

Love your consonant blend packet. I work with at-risk first graders and they are doing pretty well with consonant blends and the resources I have already used with them. However, I love your Write and Swipe idea! Is there a way to get that as a separate packet? I'd be willing to pay $5 just for that piece.

I noticed on the May write the room on the sheet where they record their words under -s, -ed, -ing, there are two -s and no -ing. We are working on this this week so I had run it before I noticed it. I'm so sorry you are having this problem. It is not the file, it has something to do with your computer. TPT has this posted as a solution for this problem:
"If you purchased a PDF and it is BLURRY after you open it, solve it this way: on a MAC or PC, install the latest version of ADOBE READER. Then, open the file with ADOBE READER. That's it. On a MAC, make sure to "Open With" ADOBE READER and NOT Preview. If it's still blurry, that's because you are still opening it with Preview!"

Your work seems so thorough. It is difficult for me to see how it is set up though--do you see it working for me if I set it up in a notebook in sleeves and using highlighting pens? Does it involve flash cards or do you see it being self contained in a notebook with sleeves?

Thank you! I have been working this week to take pictures of my RtI units in more detail along with the way that I organize them. I can easily see how it would be confusing. I will update the file hopefully this weekend showing the organization pictures. I also plan to post them on my Teach It With Class Facebook. A quick overview is that yest, I put most of it in a notebook. The actual activities go in mini manilla folders and I place them on a metal ring so I have them read. The small pieces don't work in page protectors, they will fly out of the top. I will update this answer when I update the file.

I Randi, I have purchased some of your other packets before and love your work. I teach kindergarten and first grade special education. I was wondering if this packet just includes letters and sounds or if it also includes nonsense word fluency. I could definitely use something to help my students blend words. If this doesn't contain such, do you have a packet that would be better for my students' needs?

Hello there ... I teach grade one and have a variety of students that do not recognize their letter sounds. I still have one that needs to sing the whole alphabet to recognize the letter and still struggle with the letter sound. They have acquired about 10-12 sight words. Will this help me out? Also, how much one-on-one time is required to complete this program. Is it a daily commitment ... trying to make sure I can fit it all in for my most challenging learners. There is no additional support in the classroom ... just me and 19 of my bestest little learners! Thanks for any guidance you may provide.

Thanks for your interest. I understand your concerns. This unit will help with students who are struggling with identifying letters and their sounds {capital and lower case} out of order. If you have more than on student who struggles with the skill it would be easy to work with them all at the same time using these activities. The goal of the intervention is to give focused help on this specific skill. You could do this in a small group and spend 10-15 minutes with that group. Then, you will assess progress 3 times per week and it should only take 5-7 minutes per student. That would be the basic time commitment. Do you have an RtI team at your school? If so, the data and the method you use to collect it with this unit will help you if/when you need to refer a student to that team for further testing. I hope this helped some!
I can also share with you a game I used at the beginning of the year with my students that seemed to make even the most uninterested student learn their letter sounds. It's not something I can sell so you can e-mail at teachitwithclass@gmail.com and I can try to explain that game to you.

Each week focuses on a new skill. The skills for the packet are outlined on page 2. By the end of the year, each editing focus skill will have been taught and students will be able to find and correct many different editing errors. The first week for December teaches how to find nouns and proper nouns by underlining them with a blue crayon. Once this is taught and introduced, later students will capitalize the proper nouns and find all the nouns. Weeks 2, 3, & 4 all focus on finding the noun, capitalizing it when it's a proper noun among other editing errors. The packets get progressively harder as the year goes on. By the end of the year, the students will be looking for all possible errors in sentences. The months leading up to that teach one error to look for at a time. I'm sorry for the confusion.

I love these! I was wondering if I could get all of the skip counting by 2's, 5's and 10's to 100? I was also wondering if I could get the same shape and colour for each with the 2's, 5's and 10's as a title page? I want to laminate them and put them on a ring, but I won't be able to use the circle title page. I hope you can help me out. They are fantastic.

At this time I will not be altering this freebie. As for counting by 2's to 120, it is my belief if they understand the concept on a small scale, they will be able to apply it to any number starting at any other number less than 120. Thank you for visiting my store.

Hi! I am a first year teacher and don't have any Mo Williams books of my own yet, nor does our school library... inner city. I've been looking for a socially responsive way to teach good values around Thanksgiving/Christmas, and I think this unit you've written looks great. Before I buy it though, I'm wondering what/which books I will need for the read alouds. If you can get back to me soon I can teach it one day this week!

Thanks for your interest! The unit has lessons and says to read "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus". I used this for the initial lesson since it's was one of the first books. You really only need one book to teach the lesson. Then you change to what your class "needs" / "wants". It would help and definitely add to understanding to have some of the other books if possible. After that one, I would buy "The Pigeon Wants a Puppy" and "Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late". I believe I have even seen some of the Mo Willems books available to watch online so you could do a quick search for that as well. I hope this helps! It's nice to know there are other schools in session this week with me. I think many people got out Friday for the whole week!

If you plan to continue printing in large quantities, I would find a local printing place and see if they will give you an educator discount. I currently use a place called AccuCopy and they charge me .08 per color copy. The good thing is that most units don't require all the pages to be in color. I do print at home on my printer but it eats the ink on the one I have. Ink cartridges run about $25-$30 for my printer. If I had to buy a new one, I would spring for one that uses a toner cartridge. My friend has one that prints 100's of pages without ink issues. Initially, it's more expensive but worth it in the long run. If laminated and stored correctly, the activities and lessons you find on TPT will be an investment but will stand the test of time like any other station activity you may purchase in a teacher store. I hope this helps.
