Hi! This is a zipped file, so you will need to extract it before you can open the file. To do this on a windows computer, right click on the folder, then select "extract all". You will be prompted as to where you want to save the extracted folder. After you do this, you can open the new folder (it won't have a zipper over it) and you should be able to view and open the files within. If this does not work, please let me know. Thank you!

I was going through my holiday files and found a hundreds chart pattern page that is a reindeer. I am not sure where it came from in my years of files but I saw that it has your store on the bottom. Do you still do these? I cannot find them on your site. I am thinking that there was another one like it that was a different image.

Hi! I have downloaded this file last year from this site and for some reason it is not on my account anymore. Do the downloads delete after awhile? I have it printed but I am missing the page with the leaves with the descriptions. I have all the other pages. is there any way you can send me just that one page? My email is gumma@wbsd.org and I thank you in advance!!! I found it very useful when I used it last year and want to use it again now but that page is missing!

Hi! I have emailed the file to you. Your downloads do not delete at all on TpT, so the file should be on your "My Purchases" page. I think you purchased the product as part of my "Election Lesson Plans" product, so you may want to try searching for that product on your downloads page. In case that is not the situation, I have emailed you the file. Look for an email from bec1273@aol. com. Thanks for your purchase!

Hi! Thank you for your question. Since I wrote the passages myself, I do not have an exact lexile or AR level. I wrote the passages to use with my 3rd through 5th graders, and with that general age range in mind. When I analyzed the included passages using the Lexile site's Lexile Analyzer, the estimated Lexile level of the passages is 690. I hope this information is helpful!

Hi! Thank you for your question. The product you purchased is a 3 page PDF file. The first page is a short introduction and answer key. The second page is the reading passage. It consists of a labeled diagram of a spider, with a short recipe beneath the diagram. Students will be able to answer all the questions on page 3 by using the diagram and recipe found on the second page of the file. If you are not seeing the page with the diagram, please email me at bec1273@aol. com and I will email the file to you. Thank you!

Hi! I'm sorry it has take me so long to answer your question, but I have just now seen it! This product focuses primarily on simple machines, although concepts of forces and work are discussed and integrated into some of the investigations and activities. These concepts are not covered explicitly or with great detail in this product, however. Thank you for your question!

I purchased your simple machines comp. unit and I was wondering if there was a way around only saving page 9 to 29 in a separte file so I can send them to get color copied? Is there a word version? For example when I save on a flash drive then try to send it to Staples it won't let me just send certain pages?? Just curious if I'm missing an option, thanks for your time, can't wait to use your unit this spring!!

Hi Melissa,
I'm sorry that you're having trouble downloading the file. I'm not sure what could be the trouble. I just tried downloading it from 2 different computers and it worked fine. I will try downloading it from my school computer tomorrow also. Maybe check to be sure that you have the latest edition of Adobe installed? Also, sometimes there are brief periods of downloading trouble from Tpt itself, which usually resolve themselves in a few moments. You may want to wait a little while and try again to download. If those suggestions don't work, please email me at bec1273@aol .com and I will send you the file via email. Again, I'm sorry for your trouble!

Hi Amy,
Thanks for your interest. I have not used this product with 2nd graders, although I have used it successfully with my 3rd-5th grade students with special needs. I do think that 2nd graders could handle the unit. They may need more assistance than older students, especially with the reading passages. My advice would be to download the free preview offering, and if the reading level in that sample looks appropriate for your students, then they should be able to complete the unit successfully. Thank you, and merry Christmas!

Hi Sue!
I completely revised all my Recipes for Reading products over the summer and listed them as new products, since they are dramatically different from the original files. You are right that there was an error in the old Donut Snowman passage. I corrected this in the new product. I have emailed you the new file, "Recipes for Reading Comprehension: Christmas and Winter Theme". This product contains the revised Donut Snowman passage as well as 9 other passages that I hope you will enjoy. Look for an email from bec1273@aol .com . Please let me know if you do not receive the email or if there is anything else I can help you with. Thank you and happy holidays!

Hi Amy,
Thanks for your question. This product is very appropriate for 3rd graders. I have used it successfully with this age student as well as with 4th and 5th graders. There are no assessments included in the product, just the activities listed in the description. One of the included activities is a chart for students to fill in listing the the gift bringer, foods, decorations, and traditions of the 4 main countries studied. This chart could be used as a sort of assessment after students complete the activities. Thanks again for your question!

Hi,
I am sorry that you are having difficulty printing the file. I'm not sure what the problem could be, but I will do what I can to ensure that you receive the full file that you purchased. Here are a few suggestions to try: first, if you have a mac, be sure that you are opening the pdf in Adobe reader and not preview. Second, be sure that your adobe reader is updated to the most current version. If neither of these suggestions work for you, you can download that particular page for free from my Tpt store at http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Christmas-Nouns-Worksheet . Please let me know if none of these suggestions solves your problem. You can email me at bec1273@aol. com. Thank you!

Hi! Yes, directions for making poppers are included. One of the products included in the bundled package is my "Christmas Traditions Around the World" unit. This unit includes 4 reading comprehension passages that include a recipe or craft directions. One of these passages is "Christmas Crackers" which tells about the tradition of poppers and includes instructions for making a simple version (non-"exploding"). This passage is written as a reading comprehension passage, so it also includes multiple choice comprehension questions. Thanks for your interest!

Hi Rebecca,
I was just looking at your Christmas ideas and one of them was to have groups of kids make up a Reader's theater play of a Christmas book and perform it for a younger class. It sounds fabulous. I'm going to be subbing in a fifth grade class and I wanted to try it out. How big were your groups and what books have you used? Any other tips would be appreciated as well. Thanks so much.

Hi Karen,
My favorite books to use for this are books by Jerry Pallotta and David Biedrzycki such as "Who Will Guide My Sleigh Tonight?", "Who Will Help Santa This Year?", and "Santa's New Jet". These books are simple and follow an easiy pattern, so they are easy to turn into a script and perform. We've even added singing and dancing! The kids also really enjoy Laura Rader's "Santa's New Suit" and even "A Visit from St. Nicholas" by Clement C. Moore. I have done the reader's theater activity with 20 to 25 students or with groups of 7 to 10 students. It works well either way! If you want, you can email me at bec1273 @ aol. com and I can send you some of the scripts we've come up with in the past.

Hi Rebecca, I just bought the soil, rocks and minerals interactive power point quiz game. I am interested in using it offline as a set of cards that we can use as a game. Is there a way to downsize each power point page so that I can fit 4 or 6 on one page and print them? Thanks for your help. Kathy
November 20, 2012 Report inappropriate comment

Rebecca Bettis  (TpT Seller)
Hi Kathy!
You should be able to print the PowerPoint in such a way as to print 4 or 6 slides per page. To do this, go to "print" and under "Settings" (in newer versions of ppt) change "full page slides" to "4 slides horizontal" or whatever layout you desire. You can even choose to scale the slides to the page so they will be slightly bigger. This should print 4 slides per page. In older versions of ppt, there is an option in the print window that says something like "print handout" or "print notes" and you will be able to choose 4 or 6 slides to print per page. If this will not give you what you need, please let me know and I will figure out a way to make the product work for you. My email address is bec1273 @ aol .com if that is an easier way for you to communicate with me. Thank you!

Hi! Thanks for your question! Each of the main units or components of the lesson plans begins with student objectives, such as "Students will demonstrate an understanding of the terms qualifications and duties" or "Students will demonstrate an understanding of the requirements for voting in US elections". Each lesson or activity does not, however, list specific expectations or standards correlated to the CCSS or other specific state standards. Although these correlations can be made, they are not explicitly spelled out in the product. I hope this answers your question!
