If my store looks a little all over the place, that's because I am too! I am a homeschooling mom to two kids (pre-K and lower elementary) and I also teach Spanish to upper elementary and middle school grades at a homeschool group co-op. But my real passions are classic literature (especially Victorian literature), photography, and design. I studied English in college, with a focus in Editing. I worked as an editor for office and marketing companies for three years before I decided to stay home with my first child. I am a voracious reader and have kept a books blog about classics, nonfiction, and children's literature at Rebecca Reads since 2008. I blog about homeschooling, teaching, and learning at Line Upon Line. Sometimes I offer my products for free on that site.
Eclectic. I teach according to my children's needs for learning. Homeschooling should be fun and effective. I rely a lot on classic picture books and classic literature.
My blog was recognized by the blogging community as one of the top three Classics Books Blogs in 2010. I have twice been selected as a first-round panelist for fiction picture books for the CYBILS awards (Children's and Young Adult Bloggers' Literary Awards). For this, I was able to read and review the nominated picture books in a three month period (more than 200 picture books each year) and then discuss with a committee which of the books should be one of the 7 finalists for the award.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in English, with a focus in Editing, and a minor in International Studies.
I've spent time in Jerusalem (two months), South America (Boliva for three months), and Australia (16 months), and I currently reside in the Chicagoland area. I love photography and I also like to experiment in the kitchen when time allows.
