I was a classroom teacher in the Boston area for 9 years before moving to Rhode Island. For the past 10 years, I have been coaching elementary and middle school teachers to teach Investigations and Connected Math. In addition I have been working closely with teachers to support their efforts in responding to the needs of students thought RTI and enrichment. My recent work has been transitioning from our current GLEs to the new Common Core Standards using Investigations and CMP.
I firmly believe that children learn through meaningful and engagaing tasks. The best way to teach differentiated lessons is through mathematics workshop using guided, small group and independent center rotations to teach a standards based curriculum.
I have been a member of the National Council of Teachers for 20 years and a consultant and workshop presenter for many Rhode Island districts.
