I teach 4th grade and would love to use this in my classroom, but I have at least half of my students' parents that don't read or speak English. So I was thinking of having those students read the prompts to them in their home language, then the students can write in the journals on their own.

This year I assigned a journal on Monday, and they were due by the end of the week. I allowed all week because some journals require parent and child interactions. Many parents work nights so it gave the students more time to sit down and write. I gave a completion grade each week for the journals. My main purpose was to involve parents and provide additional writing opportunities.

Some standards do not have texts that accompany them; you are able to use them with any text you are reading in class. For example, the Literary Analysis handout will work for any work of literature. I use all of the handouts throughtout the year. Some of them I use numerous times because they apply to all works of literature we are reading. Some of the skill specific (ex: Inference handout) handouts are stand-alone handouts. I hope this helps.

Here are a couple of suggestions that might help you to better market your products. Consider adding a second page which is a directions or suggestions page. List several ways you use this product in your classroom. Also, number your pages.
