Debbie Thibault re: Reading Comprehension Dice and Prompt Cards
This looks great but I think visualizing is spelled wrong - love to order once it is edited. :)

jds12481 re: Reciprocal Teaching in Math
Hi,
I use this method in my literacy block and am looking to add more discussion to my math rotation blocks. I thought I would just search for this under math and your activity cards came up. I was wondering how you use them? How often? Also can you give me an example of what it says under one of the cards? It is too small.

Hi there...this is an application of reciprocal teaching to Mathematics, in particular Math word problems.

The RT roles have been extended to:
Predicting, Connecting, Clarifying, Visualizing, Questioning, Calculating and Summarizing, so they are specific to the context of Math problem solving.

I will just check my own preview screen to see, as I thought it was possible to see the wording on a couple of the cards...Ok, the preview gives an overview of some of the cards, but you are right, the specific wording for each role card is not very large and this is intentional as this resource is based on my PhD research into the teaching of reading in English and Mathematics and I guess that was to protect the integrity of my intellectual work...

Here's an example of the Clarifying prompts:
Ask group members:
 What is the problem actually asking?
 Are there any words or terms you are unsure of?
 What information is needed to solve the problem?
Highlight the important information.
 What information isn’t needed?
 What operation/s is/are involved?

As you can see these are different to the traditional RT cards I use in my reading rotations as they are specific to Mathematical word problems, including visualizing the problem, summarizing the problem and the reasonableness of answers etc.

The other resource in my TPT shop with the RT cards for reading groups also extends the traditional RT sequence to include student-generated questioning and the explicit teaching of comprehension strategies.

Thanks for your interest in my product/s.

Kylie

Mr Jimmy  (TpT Seller) re: Keys to Writing a Recount
Hello! I've posted your "key" freebie onto pinterest. I think it'll be a hit! I'd suggest a clearer photo if you can since it's the first thing people see. Good luck!

Thanks so much...I was just checking out your pinterest page and pinned a few of your pins too :)

Yes, I am unsure why that photo turned out so blurry, but it is very good advice, thank you.
