Erin, I think you are referring to the reading fantasy unit? The description of the resource is lengthy and also comes with a video showing exactly what the resource entails. The lessons are meant to be taught through mini lessons. ( these are listed on the tic tac toe menu). The purpose of my unit is for independent study support of these lessons. The booklet is designed so students have a place to practice the skills taught in the lessons. It also provides detailed graphic organizers for students to record their thinking and interpret their thinking. The teaching points you seem to be referring to are the list of skills in the grid. Hope this is helpful.

yes - all poems are given both in the teacher's ppoint and a copy of all of the poems are in the package for the students. Buyers have been very pleased by the quality and creativity in this unit. There are some great lessons here Many people try and sell poetry as haiku, acrostic etc. This unit really gets kids to not just write 'real' poetry but also love the genre. You won't be disappointed!

yes. it is a template. you would need to adapt - the first scene is to get the ceremony going - depending on the structure of your ceremony and guest speakers, you could easily adapt my content. mine goes 'up' intro, guest speakers, student speakers, certificates, songs close. hope this helps

Do you have smart notebook? It is a IWB file that will only open in smart notebook. Download it fom smart tech.com under resources tab. Also try downloading on another computer at school with smart notebook on it. Let me know if you still have difficulties and I can email you the files. It is a smart notebook file. You can download a free copy of the software at smart tech.com under the resources tab...if you do not have a interactive whiteboard then this will be a waste of time. I am sorry that you missed the file type. It would take me forever to change the file to PDF. As I would need to copy one page at a time. I am willing to send you any other product from my store free of charge as a consolation. Email me at rbuxton@sas.edu.sg when you have selected something. This is a holistic approach to poetry. These elements are mentioned as part of the poet's tool box, but the unit focuses mostly on how to creatively craft poetry, and strategies and techniques on the interpretation of poetry. It's purpose it to lead students through a poetic journey from inside their hearts through to issues that concern them in their societies and the world in general. These standards can be taught through exposure to the poems listed, but the unit does not have these as specific learning targets during the lessons. Hope this is helpful.

That is exactly what it can be used for. The kids will have the most important skills to constantly refer back to from the Hist. Fiction unit. The skills listed are based on that unit. Book clubs would that have a place to write down their thinking or add their stickies. The right side of each graphic organizer is then used to interpret the evidence collected on the left side. There is also a culminating activity that book clubs can use at to present their thinking at the end of the unit.
Alternatively, you can look at my book club unit which is also for sale. This can be used with any of the Calkins unit. It is a very well structured resource that guides book clubs discussions and accountable talk. I normally use my book club unit for the book clubs and the genre specific units on offer in my store ( fantasy, characters into meaning, hist. Fic) for kids to track their thinking under their independent reading books. Hope this helps.

Some of the pictures are a little off where they should be and some of the pages look like they should be in landscape mode and some look like they should be portrait. File was created in word 2011. The file starts in portrait and the last few pages are done purposely in landscape. Many others have purchased product with no problems. File was created on A4 sized paper, not letter sized paper. That is possibly the issue. You would need to change your printer setting to A4 from letter. I am happy to email you a PDF. File if needed. No... Because the kids see inside the poems at their level, it is ok for that grade level. The extended metaphor lesson will be too difficult, but many will be ok. Here are a few suggestions that might help you to better market your products. Add some clipart to add color. Even though buyers will copy this in black and white, for some reason they like color on the original. Also, create a cover page for each of your products which can then be used as an attractive thumbnail to entice buyers.
You might also add a second page which is a directions or suggestions page for the teacher. List several ways you use this product in your classroom. Never assume that a buyer knows how, why, or when to use your product. Use the footer to put the copyright symbol, your name and date of creation on EVERY page. Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations. Also number your pages.

I have things i call GRAAB techniques and Styling Super Sentences. Each h/out is a set of 5 or 6 sentence templates that help kids present facts in an 'engaging' way. e.g. kids might want to write texas contains fact A and Fact B, but one of my techniques would change it to ..not only fact A but also fact B can be found in texas OR Both fact A and Fact B occur in texas. The idea is to get kids away from starting sentences with pronouns or there is/there are type openings. sorry i didn't read this sooner. I have a lot of stuff that gives kids different ways to express themselves BUT.. the eading level you are talking about is probably too low for them to apply these strategies in any wothwhile way.
