I like the unit, especially the debate and trip to the recycling plant. Would like to see samples, rubrics, and quiz as part of the pdf. Also, how long is the unit? How many days do you schedule for the debate prep?

I have taken about a month to complete the unit. It really depends on the students and grade level you are working with. I have used it for the month leading up to Earth Day. As for the debate, I have assigned it on a Monday and had the students present the debate the Friday of the next week. (about 2 weeks for prep and research) Again, it can be adjusted based on the skill levels of the students. I have used it for general ed. 5-6th graders and resource students for 5-8th grade. I am working on a quiz that will be added later and I will make sure to reissue this for your download when that happens. Enjoy!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I am a 8th year teacher. I am currently working at a small private school in Scottsdale, Arizona and teach 7th and 8th grade students.
MY TEACHING STYLE
My teaching style is one of patience and understanding. I must meet the individual academic needs of each student and use direct instruction with a multisensory approach to lesson planning. It is always wonderful to help these students reach their goals and experience success!
HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT
Silver Apple Award awarded May 2010 by Channel 3 TV and Ace Air. A true honor because I was nominated by one of my 8th grade students!
MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY
I earned my BA in Special Education from Arizona State University in 2005. I went on to earn my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading from Grand Canyon University in 2007.
