MsJillms re: Fractured Fairy Tale Parts of Plot
Hi Sarah,

I just purchased your fractured fairy tales lesson but unfortunately when I download, two of the pages are coming through as blank (missing the plot elements chart and one other page). Is there any way this can be fixed as it is pretty much the bulk of the lesson? Thanks!

Licence plates in North America typically have an image (a symbol/crest) and a phrase (the motto) that represent the state or province they belong to. In Alberta we have a picture of a wild rose and the saying 'Wild Rose Country' on our licence plates because we have lots of wild roses growing here. The assignment asks kids to make their own licence plate that includes a crest and a motto that reflects who they are and/or what's important to them.

Hi Sarah,
Nice work! Thanks for sharing your resources on this site. I teach in Alberta as well (new to Gr 6 French immersion) and am planning to purchase some of your resources. I would have to translate them though- are your documents 'editable' ? It makes thing much quicker for me when I can just go in and translate/adapt the text only.

Thanks!

I totally understand! The PDF files on TPT aren't editable, but I do have word document copies of most of my assignments, so if you let me know which ones you're interested in, I can double check that I have editable files and let you know. If I do, after purchase I can send them to you via email. Just email me at segavan@cbe.ab.ca with any assignments you'd like copies of and I'll get back to you :) Don't buy any until you check with me though, I wouldn't want you to buy them and end up not having a copy that can be edited!

Part 1 and 2 seem to be in a separate document, which is bizarre. I will try to fix it on TPT, but in the meantime, if you message me your email address I will send you the complete PDF with all three parts.

Sorry for the mistake!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

1 year in high school, six years in junior high. Over the past few years I have taught LA and Social Studies at all grade levels in junior high, and Career & Life Management, Resource, and English to grades 10 through 12. I have also taught Legal Studies, Foods, Dance, Film Studies, Media & Advertising, Leadership, and Fashion Studies.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I employ inquiry-based learning and critical thinking strategies, yet still believe that some direct instruction in the foundations of reading and writing are key. In my junior high classroom the relationship with my students is of primary importance. I want my students to develop higher-order thinking skills and devote a lot of prep time to creating innovative and engaging activities that give my students the best opportunity to demonstrate their learning. Some of these activities work beautifully, others not so much - but that's part of the fun! Generally I develop my courses from scratch every year, but the majority of the activities that I post on TPT are the staples that I adapt to each grade level/curriculum and use over and over again.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Mother to two boys (2 years old and 1 month old), I am currently teaching grade 9 at a brand new, state-of-the-art middle school in Alberta, Canada with cutting edge technology (and serious angst about photocopying, to my chagrin). I will be adding more content related to the Alberta grade 9 Social Studies and Language Arts Programs of Studies over the course of the 2012/2013 school year.
