TEACHING EXPERIENCE

~ I am currently substitute teaching at the elementary school level (both classroom and resource), after having graduated with my BEd in May 2010. ~ During my student teaching, I taught Resource (Grades 1-6) and Grade 5 Math for six weeks; Resource, Grade 7 Health and Grade 9 Literacy for four weeks; and Grade One Classroom for ten weeks. ~ I have developed and delivered many individual and small group lesson plans in the areas of reading, writing and spelling strategies and mathematics. I have developed lesson plans for students with down syndrome and autism. ~ I have developed and delivered a grade one integrated unit on baby animals, covering language arts, science, social studies, health and technology outcomes. I have also developed and delivered a grade five unit on fractions, and a grade seven mini-unit on internet safety. I have also designed and taught numerous grade one lesson plans for a unit on bears and another on pumpkins.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I embrace the inclusive classroom. I believe teaching which incorporates integrated units and allows for multiple learning styles and intelligences, is the most engaging and effective style for reaching students.
