bozeman re: Hooray for Arrays! Second Grade Common Core Mega Pack 2.OA.C.4
Hey again! Please check the birthday cakes- there are 12 cakes total instead of 9(4+4+4=12). Also check the groups of balloons- there are 5 total instead of 7 (1+1+1+1+1=5).

I apologize, again! I uploaded an unedited version of the file. Thank you so very much. :)

bozeman re: Hooray for Arrays! Second Grade Common Core Mega Pack 2.OA.C.4
Hey! I am so sorry, but I found several mistakes on the Birthday Array Match Game. In other units on TPT, the repeated addition sentence for 2 rows of 3 (ice cream cones) would be 3+3=6. The birthday cakes show 3 rows of 4 and should say 4+4+4=12. The cupcakes show 4 rows of 5 and should say 5+5+5+5=20. The one row of balloons is confusing because there are 3 in each group, but the sum of the repeated addition sentence should be 5 instead of 7. The boys show 2 rows of 4 and should say 4+4=8. I think these activities will be a wonderful addition to my unit. Thanks so much!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for bringing this my attention. I don't know what was going on in my mind when I made this. I made the necessary corrections and uploaded the corrected version. I am so appreciative that you took the time to send me a Q/A about this. I am going to stand by the ice cream comes and the boys though because I teach my students to write equations for both the rows and the columns. I think that it is important that they see that there are two addition (and later multiplication equations for each grouping of objects. Thank you again! :)

Joy Herrin  (TpT Seller) re: Mystery Number of the Week Set 4 in Color
Since there are 36-38 weeks in a school year, will there be Mystery Number of the Week sets added for those weeks beyond #24? I would like to purchase a full year.

Second Grade Math Maniac  (TpT Seller)
I will be creating at least two more Mystery Number of the Week sets.. I started creating them during my second quarter this year on an as needed basis for my own classroom. They are on my to-do list and I apologize that I can't really give a time frame for when the whole set will be available. I am shooting to be finished with it in July, which is when my school year begins. :)

Joy Herrin  (TpT Seller) re: Math Story Problem Task Cards for Second Graders
What is the game Scoot? In 38 years of teaching, I have never heard about Scoot.

Second Grade Math Maniac  (TpT Seller)
Scoot is super fun and a great way to review any basic concept. I found a link to some clear directions here: http://sunnydaysinsecondgrade.blogspot.com/2011/11/scoot.html

I am in the process of adding direction pages to my SCOOT games. I mistakenly assumed that everyone played it. :)

Thank you for your question! I hope this helps.

I had seen this and it was on sale for \$8 but I didn't have my credit card. Is you sale over?

I'm so sorry you missed my sale! It was just a one day sale in honor of making the newsletter. I will be throwing another sale to welcome spring in a couple of weeks though! :)

ShayeCintado re: Take Home Math Kits: 24 Games for Students and Their Families
I would love to incorporate something like this to build the home/school connection. I know the games are aligned to 2nd grade standards but do you feel they are also suitable for 1st graders? Without seeing the objectives for each game, it is hard for me to know if they are appropriate in 1st grade. Thanks so much! :)

Second Grade Math Maniac  (TpT Seller)
I honestly do feel that most of the games could be played by first graders, especially during the 3rd and 4th quarters. If you contact me directly at secondgrademathmaniac@yahoo.com, I would be more than happy to send you the table of contents, which includes the standard addressed for each game. :)

I wanted to to get your CAFE reading posters with the horses, but I can not find them. I pinned them from Pinterest but can find them on the teachers pay teachers web site. How do I find them.

Hi! On your "Number Sense Chart for Numbers 1 - 999" I noticed that there are 2 + signs in the expanded form portion of the chart.

Hi,
Re: your take home math games...more than a third of my students are Spanish speaking. Any chance each game could be in Spanish too? A suggestion is to run them through Google translate, then have someone proof read. It cuts down on the time they have to translate.

My kids really enjoyed the October problem task cards. It was perfect for Halloween! I liked the complexity of some of the problems, and that there were a mix of challenge problems. There were a just couple minor typos. I would suggest the Spidey glove problem say single gloves, because then the child must figure out how many pairs of gloves need to be bought- my kids were unclear if the problem wanted single or pairs of gloves. It was a lot of fun, thanks for putting it up on the site. I appreciate the graphics you chose weren't overly "cutesy". :)

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with next!

Linda

Thank you for your suggestions, I genuinely appreciate your honest feedback on my products! I am going to review my October cards once again for typos. My students also had trouble with the glove problem.

I would love to tackle translating the math games into Spanish but it will take me awhile. It will probably be December before I am able to spend some real time on them as I have a lot going on right now. I will see what I can do! :)

Hi,

I live in Hillsborough, NC! Nice to see your great work on line! I had trouble downloading Reading Genres tonight on my Mac. Do you think I would have any problems printing these Mystery Number sets? I'm looking for daily math routine materials, I teach second grade in Durham.

Thanks for posting! :) Linda

We love this lesson!
Our 2nd grade teachers will be using this for part of our fraction unit.
Is it okay if we download and repost this document on our district site for teachers to access?
Thanks!

Alison Kan  (TpT Seller) re: Daily 5 BINGO Recording Sheet
This is great! Do you have directions that go with some of the activities?
September 13, 2012
Second Grade Math Maniac  (TpT Seller)
Thanks for the question Alison, but sadly I do not have directions for these activities. I posted this during 3rd quarter last year and the activities were all things that we had practiced but I didn't really have anything beyond a note card for most of them. If you have a question about a specific station then I can try and clarify for you! :)

npotter re: Crazy Cat Addition Fact Game
Hi, I have purchased the crazy cat addition fact game, and the cats are adorable. I love it. However, my sums don't seem to match up with the equations. I have 24, 100, 46, 50, 92, 34, and 56 with no matching equation. Some of the other sums have 2 matching equations. Since, I have already printed two sets and laminated them, could you post a separate page of equations to match these? (Don't make me reprint what I've already done. Does that make sense?) Maybe I'm just tired and not adding right. Thanks for your help.

Second Grade Math Maniac  (TpT Seller)
Hi! I am so sorry that you went through the trouble of laminating something that was wrong! I have corrected the problem and re-posted the Crazy Cats Addition Fact Game. You should only have to print page 5. If this does not solve your problem, please let me know. Alternatively, if you e-mail me I can send you a copy of only page 5 in a pdf, if this would work better for you.

Thank you for being specific as to which numbers were incorrect, this was very helpful in fixing the problem!

I would like to give you a free product for your trouble. If you e-mail me at secondgrademathmaniac@yahoo.com with the title of the listing of your choice then I will send it directly to you. Thank you again.

Thanks, I have that site...we used their unpacking. We start K-1 this year but I teach first and second in a Montessori classroom. I teach 2nd grade math only the rest I teach to both grade levels. Here is the wiki site.

I follow your blog and lodve your ideas. I am in Louisiana and we are just starting CCSS in K-1 next year. I am a member of the NC wiki site and found the Addition-Subtraction units for the year for 2nd grade math. I teach first and second grade but only math in second. Can you give me
some idea where the geometry, algebric operations, measurement and data units can be locateds? Look like everyone is following NC so you must be really on top of things. Love all the formative assessments on the wiki. Can you please, please help me find the other units or is that strictly for NC teachers only? Please advise....althea.young@epsb.com or on here. I really have been killing hours looking on every search engine for those other units. We start 2nd next year but I really started in Jan of this year.

Second Grade Math Maniac  (TpT Seller)
Hi Althea! I actually did not know about the NC wiki! (I know this sounds crazy but my county tends to do things their own way). The units that I use actually come from a county resource called CMAPP. I would love to give you the inside scoop but it is password protected. Hopefully they will post the other units on the wiki soon because I know other counties do depend on DPI. Here is a great link: http://www.dpi.state.nc.us/acre/standards/common-core-tools/
My favorite tool is the Unpacking the Standards link for math. It breaks down each standard and provides an example. This was really helpful to me! If you have any more questions please feel free to e-mail me at secondgrademathmaniac@yahoo.com

Will your beach newsletter download as a PDF or a word document? I'd like to be able to edit it digitally so I can email it to my parents, but I want to make sure I can do that before I purchase. Thanks!

I saw your store on the home page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. I left you a rating. Well done!

Since you teach the primary grades, I’d appreciate your input on my freebie listed below. I like to get suggestions and feedback from a variety of teachers.

Thank you SO much for all of the helpful advice. I will definitely keep your tips in mind as a edit and add things on TPT. I am heading over to look at your freebie now. Thank you also for the encouragement and kind words. I try to create quality math materials for my kiddos to fill in gaps left by our current math adoption. It is nice to hear that I am on the right track.
