TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have worked with children for over ten years. After graduating with a bachelors in English from UConn in 2004, I taught pre-k for 2 years. After pre-k, I worked as a tutorial specialist focused mainly on teaching phonics. As of December 2012 I have my Masters and certification in elementary education, and currently I am teaching kindergarten. I have some experience with 4th and 5th grade because that is where I completed my student teaching assignments. I love to create worksheets and educational enhancements from scratch to meet my own (or others... i like to help) classroom needs.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is strict but fun. I think classroom management is super important, and in order for a classroom to run smoothly, management must be worked on from the beginning. I like to work with my kindergarteners in groups and I create a lot of my own materials to go along with the curriculum that I am given.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I don't have any official honors or awards, but (get ready for corny), I really feel honored when people want to use my creations in their own classrooms and I feel rewarded when I see my kindergarteners learning because I taught them! But really, I absolutely LOVE teaching and I can not wait to work in a public school so I can fill my classroom to the brim with excitement for learning!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelors in English from Uconn Masters and Connecticut certification in elementary education from Southern Connecticut State University
