Buyer re: Solving Math Word Problems Posters
Do your students benefit from these steps? They seem cumbersome to remember for a kid and therefore less than useful when taking a standardized test that requires all instructional posters to be removed or covered up.

Obviously, all instructional posters have to be covered during testing. These are used throughout the year to teach the strategies I expect my students to help them solve word problems. I don't think five steps is too much for my students, but if you teach a primary grade, it may be for your students.

When I downloaded the file, all the words appeared as red smudged bars on the paper. Any ideas? A teacher friend downloaded it and it worked fine. Hmmmm.

It looks really fun, and I think some of my friends can improve their PV skills with it.

I'd suggest to redownload or perhaps try from a different computer. I can also email it to you if you send me your email address and we can try it that way.

My kids love this game.

I really love this idea. I'm just wondering if it will be challenging enough for 5th grade?
Just seems to be a wide range from 2nd to 5th.
Thank you,

I taught fifth and sixth grade for 8 years and many of these skills my students struggle with. It's fairly easy to customize. If you choose to purchase it, and you find it needs specific skills that your kids need - leave me a comment and I'll add those skills to the file. Then you could redownload for the update. I've recently added improper fractions and mixed numbers, area and perimeter due to customer request.

Kim T. re: Math Ticket Out The Door - Place Value
Do you have a math ticket out the door that would accomodate 2nd graders? The topics are too advanced for my second grade class. However, I love the idea. If not do you know another teacher that has what I am looking for?

Thanks,
Kim

I apologize that the file is not applicable to your grade. I can easily modify my file to meet your needs and send it to you. Are there any specific concepts that you want included? I'll try to get it done in the next couple days.

I've completed the primary file and plan to upload it on TpT, but I'd like to send it to you for free. Can you send me your email address or email me @ shannonpiles@gmail.com

Hi, thanks for adding all the new pages! I have a management question. Who organizes the cards for the activities on Wednesday and Thursday? Do you set one up and the children organize their own? Or do you do it?

I organize my student binders on Friday afternoon for the upcoming week. I pick activities for Wednesday and Thursday that flow with what we are struggling on or recently covered. If you choose to individualize the binder based on students, you will need to label them by student name/number.

Ok so I bought both binders... Yours is more appropriate for my kids but in Ontario we don't add fractions. The day on fractions is too hard.can you add an additional idea for that day? I am willing to pay for it! :-) you said you had lots of ideas that you didn't put in the binder? Thanks!

You could use the various fraction cards and have them compare two cards using a ,= symbols between them. You can have them order three fractional cards least to greatest using the same denominator. Or another idea we could add to it is perimeter and area. Do y'all do that?

I'm not sure you've seen the pictures from my blog post last night, but you may see another idea in there

Are all of the pieces designed to fit a 9-up (3x3) page protector?

Thank you for making one for upper grades!

There are various activities, some that use the 9 pockets (around 5 per student) but others that whole page (around 5 per student). I plan to blog more pictures tonight if you want to see what you may want to pick and choose.

I am going to be teaching 2nd grade next year...I'm not sure if I should purchase yours or the Rise and Shine Binder. What is your opinion? I had been thinking about purchasing the rise and shine binder but was worried it might be to easy. I have not taught 2nd before so I don't have much to go on! Just though I would ask your opinion, thanks!

I purchased this a few months ago and was doing it today with my kids. Noticed one of the small cards says "2 digit, odd, sum of 4, diff of 3". The answer is 41, so the card needs to be changed to "sum of 5." Haven't gone through all the rest of them to check the others yet but noticed this one.
