The department head at my school LOVES interactive notebooks, but I've never had an opportunity to learn about them. This intro-guide is VERY thorough and interesting. I have read through it once and look forward to referring back to it as I roll out interactive notebooks in my 6th Grade ELA class this year.

The paragraphs use the most common text structures such as narrative, descriptive, comparison, persuasive, problem/solution, chronological, etc. Research has shown that when students can identify common text structures, their reading comprehension improves dramatically!

I'm sorry about that. Other purchasers have bought the Tone Project and have not had trouble opening it. It's in PDF format which the website supports, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I don't. I'm sorry. I let the students discuss among themselves what they think the sturcture of the paragraph is. I require them to prove why that is the structure. (clue words, graphic organizer, etc.) Hope this helps!

Sure! I just copy them on cardstock front and back. They can match the words and definitions. Then, they can turn tem over and match the two numbers on the back to check ther own answers.
