Growing up it was my dream to be a kindergarten teacher. I am one of the lucky ones who is living my dream. I taught kindergarten for 25+ years and have loved every day! I tell people I need to stay in a grade where I may still know more than the students! :) I retired at the end of the 2012 school year. TpT allows me to continue to do what I love and spend time with my family at the same time. The best of both worlds!
I was structured because I feel there is safety for students in that teaching style. They know the routine and what to expect. However, I also had a hands-on classroom where the students were engaged in meaningful activities. I love my SMARTboard and so did my students. Most four and five year olds enter the classroom with a knowledge of technology and the SMARTboard is simply an extension of the knowledge.
Teacher of the Year (for my school) 2007-08, Mentor Teacher of the Year (for my county) 2005-06, PTA Volunteer of the Year 2009-10 and SMART Exemplar Educator 2010-11
I was a late bloomer in education. I married and was a stay-a-home mom until the mid 1980s. Determined to graduate college before my daughter graduated high school, I graduated with honors from Mary Washington College (now UMW) in Fredericksburg, VA. I taught in Spotsylvania County, VA.
Born in New Jersey, married 44 years, fantastic husband, two great children, two awesome "inlaw" children, four gorgeous and growing too quickly grandchildren and one incredible great-granddaughter who was born in 2012.
