Growing up it was my dream to be a kindergarten teacher. I am one of the lucky ones who is living my dream. I have taught kindergarten for 20+ years and have loved every day! I tell people I need to stay in a grade where I may still know more than the students! :)
I am structured because I feel there is safety for students in that teaching style. They know the routine and what to expect. However, I also have a hands-on classroom where the students are engaged in meaningful activities. I love my SMARTboard and so do my students.
Teacher of the Year (for my school) 2007-08, Mentor Teacher of the Year (for my county) 2005-06, PTA Volunteer of the Year 2009-10 and SMART Exemplar Educator 2010-11
I was a late bloomer in education. I married and was a stay-a-home mom until the mid 1980s. Determined to graduate college before my daughter graduated high school, I graduated with honors from Mary Washington College (now UMW) in Fredericksburg, VA. I teach in Spotsylvania County, VA.
Born in New Jersey, married for (almost) 42 years, incredible husband, two great children, two awesome "inlaw" children and four gorgeous and growing too quickly grandchildren.
