Hi. I'm thinking of buying your Microsoft Word unit (previous edition) for my 6th graders that have never had any formal computer class. I only have a few days to give them a "crash course." So my question is, what are the topics that are covered?
Thanks,

Most of the assignments will teach formatting and different tools in MS Word. It covers alphabetizing, numbering, drag and drop, copy/paste, shapes, drawing tools, font changes, page orientation, borders, paragraph alignment, text wrap, watermarks, utilizing the Thesaurus, spell check, WordArt, etc.

Sheri, how much difference is there between the old Lemonade Stand activity and the 2010 version? I purchased and downloaded the old version before I realized there was a newer one and I'm not sure if I need to buy the new one now or not?

Thanks!

There is not a whole lot of difference. I just wanted to have one that reflected the 2010 changes. I will email you the new version if you give me your email address.

I am always looking for great project-based learning lessons for middle-school computer applications and keyboarding students. :) If you have a Pay Pal address (or some other way to pay you), I will make sure you are paid for this 2007 Word unit. Thanks so much!

Hi Sheri,

I'm excited to use your product, but I noticed that you did not include a rubric. Do you have one available that you can send to me? It might be helpful to include one for future downloads.

Thanks,

Zack

Does it have to be PowerPoint - could I change the directions to include the name of the tool we'll be using?

Yes...you definitely could. You could use this as a traditional research paper or a video montage, etc. The assignment is based on the information the student needs to find out and report on. The way in which it is reported is not exclusive. I hope you enjoy it!

It will work, yes, but the names of some of the tools, such as Autoshapes is now called Shapes, etc. It is the same lesson plan I used for the previous version of Word but I just went through and changed a little bit of the wording to make more sense using the new version. It would only take a few minutes to change it back if you wanted to use it. I hope this helps.

Oh my goodness...I just saw this question! Talk about late...sorry. My lessons are based on the Mac 2004 version of MS Office...however, I just started using the new version...so I can update anything...I plan to go through all of my lessons and revise if needed. It would be a great idea to do a lesson on using the new format specifically though. I think I will! If you are interested in seeing what I come up with or giving me some feedback, I would love it. My email is svickers@hjuhsd.k12.ca.us...I will send it to you for free if you email me and ask!

There are 8 lessons. Some of them will take more than one class period to complete. If you decide to buy them and need any help with them, please feel free to ask. My email is svickers@hjuhsd.k12.ca.us. Thanks for looking! I have a few more lessons too...favorites are probably the Unsolved Mysteries PowerPoint and the Dream Room Excel project.
