I was disappointed at this because I wanted the charts to have the same owl theme that the CAFE and word wall did. I purchased it thinking that it did, only to find a child theme instead. I may have to use something else instead

I apologize for any confusion. When a product says that it is a certain theme, it does not mean that the every picture will depict an owl. However, any product bought in this theme will have the same color theme and owls where applicable. Several pages within you packet should contain owls, just not the cards for centers that show children doing the activities.
Again, sorry for any confusion. I hope that you will find other products in my store that are more what you are looking for.

It does include ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Science. I have changed the description to include the 4 subject areas covered. The TpT website only allows for three subjects to be selected in a product description, this is the reason it is not entered in the subject area.
A math replacement will be available by the end of the summer.

Unfortunately, changing the color to black and white would create confusion. The background color dictates which subject they are from for easy sorting. This product contains 110 slides, and I wanted to make sure they were easily discerned. I did make them polka dot as well as having a large white boxed area in hopes of going easy on the ink.

I'm not sure which "Transitional Readers" set you are referring to. I have the 1&2 grade set which are what I used to use when I taught in those grade levels. The strategies are the strategies I used in my classroom that aligned with my school objectives. Though they are not a Daily 5 product I did use them along with it and they follow the strategies used on the CAFE board.
The main difference in the CAFE Menus lie under the "E". For kindergarten I use "Expand Print Awareness", whereas the first and second grade set use "Expand Vocabulary". The strategy cards align according to the grade. If you are interested in seeing which strategies are in the set, you can look at the preview and they are listed.

I actually have a set in purple. All of the owl themed products are in a light purple with yellow accents. If you would like polka dots or something in purple, I can make them. It will take about a week or so however, because I will have to make all of the products that match so that they are a complete set. I have had requests for the TEKS cards for both first and second grade. Hopefully I will be able to get them done and up by Thanksgiving. The document is so big it takes quite a while to get them done. I am in the middle of my dissertation and planning my wedding along with teaching Kinder this year, so its taking me much longer to get things done for here. Kindergarten by Design (TpT Seller)
Hi! I am a Kindergarten teacher here in Texas. I have a question for you. Does your school use CSCOPE for curriculum? If so, how long? Our district just rolled it out for us to begin using it. I love it, but many of my colleagues are overwhelmed and do not like it at all. Did anyone on your faculty have the same problems? Can you tell me how your school overcame the issues? Of course these questions are assuming you do use it. I really appreciate any help you can give me.

It has been my experience that any time a new program is chosen by a district that there are those that love it and others that hate it. Its all a matter of making it work for you.

I just printed out your reading strategy cards for first and second grade --the ocean theme ones.
On your list of things included it said there was a card for Good Fit Books but it isn't in there!
is there some way I can get that card? It is a pretty important one. I love the rest of them. I just laminated them all. They look great. At first I thought I dropped it somewhere but when I scrolled back through the file there is no Good Fit Book card in that packet that I can see. Please advise.

The 1&2 grade set include all of the same strategies for Comprehension, Accuracy, and Fluency with the additional strategies needed for upper grades. However, they do not include any of the Print Awareness Strategies that fall under Expand Print Awareness. The 1&2 set only comes with the Expand Vocabulary strategies instead.

Not a problem, it should contain all of the strategies. I didn't use the book to create them because they are my own product. That said, I have used Daily 5 in my room for five years and I included all of the strategies I use. If you find that one is missing, it does contain the blank cards to make the few extras you may need.

I downloaded this file and tried to "open with" adobe reader on my MAC computer. It won't open and says that it is because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded) when I try to open it in Word it is very blurry...Please help. this is a daring newsletter and I would love to be able to use it after purchasing it. Well, they are something new I am adding to my room this year, so I don't know how well it will work. My plan though is to have the students names on the board and to have them put their choice by their name. The hope is that it will provide a quick check for a sub or myself as to where students should be while simultaneously giving them the opportunity to mark their choice and give them some ownership in the process. We will see how it works. :-)

My world was kind of turned upside down a couple of weeks ago when I got engaged...planning for a new year, writing my dissertation for my PhD and now wedding planning has put me a bit behind. The 1&2 set has strategies for vocabulary expansion whereas Kinder focuses on Print awareness. There are also differences in the chunks and word families included in the 1&2 set.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have had the great opportunity to teach for the past ten years. It has been a blast! In that time I have taught Kinder, First, Second and Fourth grade. I have my Bachelors in Elementary Education, my Master's in Educational Administration, and I am working on my dissertation to finish my PhD in Curriculum and Instruction.
MY TEACHING STYLE
The use of hands on activities that engage students while allowing them to be self learning can be a daunting task. However, in order to adequately prepare our students for the world that awaits them in their adulthood, it is necessary. I enjoy creating activities to make learning fun for students. Its equally as rewarding to create visually appealing classroom helps that work in my classroom and then to be able to share them with all of you!
