I am in my ninth year of teaching in Vermont. I am currently teaching 4th grade; I have taught grades 2, 3, 4, and 5. Before teaching, I was a para-educator in grades 1, 2, and 4. I tutored students in grades 3-11. I also coached girls soccer, grades 7 and 8.
I follow the philosophies of Responsive Classroom. I also believe in using inquiry activities, whenever possible, because they are engaging and meaningful for students. I have spent a great deal of time learning about differentiation, and I try to incorporate Multiple Intelligences activities whenever possible. I love using technology as well!
I recently earned the status of being called a STAR teacher in my district. After three years of study, I am a qualified STAR science teacher, as authorized by the Southwest Vermont Curriculum Coordinators' Collaborative, granted by the Mathematics and Science Partnerships Grant in Vermont.
I attended the University of Vermont and Castleton State College for my BA. I'm currently working on my MA in Curriculum Development, with a focus on literacy, from the University of New England.
I am a Vermont girl and love my state! My husband and I enjoy walking our two dogs: Oscar is a 5 year old black lab and Mila is our german shepherd puppy. I play soccer and also enjoy running.
